Joe Biden Demands That TV Networks Stop Giving Giuliani Airtime

From the article:

“We are writing today with grave concern that you continue to book Rudy Giuliani on your air to spread false, debunked conspiracy theories on behalf of Donald Trump,” a pair of top Biden campaign advisers, Anita Dunn and Kate Bedingfield, wrote in the letter.

“Giving Rudy Giuliani valuable time on your air to push these lies in the first place is a disservice to your audience and a disservice to journalism,” the advisers wrote. A copy of the letter was obtained by The New York Times.

Biden knows that the networks are more interested in ratings and advertising revenue.

and this site is repeating it.
As I recall when reading the letter from the campaign ( not Joe himself) the word demand does not appear.

ETA: I googled with the word "asks" and many outlets are using the more accurate read on this.
For example: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2019/09/30/joe-biden-campaign-urges-tv-networks-not-book-rudy-giuliani/3817708002/

Joe Biden's 2020 campaign is asking TV networks to not book Rudy Giuliani

WASHINGTON – Former Vice President Joe Biden's presidential campaign urged top TV network executives Sunday to stop booking Rudy Giuliani on their shows, accusing President Donald Trump's personal attorney of introducing "increasingly unhinged, unfounded and desperate lies into the national conversation."

In an email sent Sunday obtained by USA TODAY, Biden senior adviser Anita Dunn and deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield wrote that live fact-checking during Giuliani's appearances is "no longer enough."

"We are writing today with grave concern that you continue to book Rudy Giuliani on your air to spread false, debunked conspiracy theories on behalf of Donald Trump," the two wrote. "By giving him your air time, you are allowing him to introduce increasingly unhinged, unfounded and desperate lies into the national conversation."

"We write to demand that in service to the facts, you no longer book Rudy Giuliani, a surrogate for Donald Trump who has demonstrated that he will knowingly and willingly lie in order to advance his own narrative," the email continued.

Um, the Biden Campaign did say they were writing "to demand that in service to the facts, you no longer book Rudy Giuliani..."

THAT is simply a horrible job by whomever in the campaign staff wrote this. Someone should be fired, this was a needless self-inflicted error.

Of course all the media outlets jumped on the word "demand", that generates clicks, viewers, readers... it's what the media does.

Because it sounds like his advisors are doing more harm than good here. Giuliani is wildly spinning out of control like a lopsided top and the media is toying with him like a cat with a mouse.

The reason why I said I hate this is because the plea to not give Giuliani airtime has become a story. Unless that was part of the communication team's strategy, this isn't going over very well for the campaign.

It's surprising that senior staffers made a move like this. Maybe the staffers in question are better with campaign operations than communications. If this is part of their strategy, I guess we'll see how it works out for them.

The core impeachment story -- the memo and talking points -- are enough to keep reporters busy for sometime. Outside of the conservative bubble, Biden comes out with clean hands when his name is brought up in relation to Ukraine. Every time Giuliani opens his mouth he makes it worse for the republicans. Why try and stop the rope supply? I don't get it.

like the article says.

GOP spreads conspiracy theories on their blogs and radio shows and Fox News all the time. Why is this any different? Just correct the facts for the viewers, and let Giuliani spill the beans on his crimes since he can't keep a secret.

the various networks contacted by the Biden campaign offered to have Biden appear on their networks to set the record straight on Giuliani’s claims, but he declined.
