That was played after Obama's acceptance speech at the DNC in 2012, too, and Biden's been using the song a lot.

I remember sitting here in front of the TV, with my parents, who were in their eighties at the time. It was so amazing to see what America finally did. They elected a black man to be the President of the United States. And what a man!

How blessed we were to have Obama and Biden representing us and taking care of us for eight wonderful years.

I also thank Biden for running and believe though he is a bit older, he is nonetheless as wise or wiser. I believe we were a greater people when Obama was our president. The world was a safer place.

We still have “miles to go” and “promises to keep,” so we will keep going...

....election night, and the inauguration.

Never bought ANY videos before, but it was that important to me (only $19.99, a bargain!!!)

I thought Clinton winning in 1992 was the most exciting election* night, 2008 surpassed that by so much!

*of course, when I first ran for a very low local office in town and won in 2005, THAT was the most exciting.

I worked in the suburbs at the time, couldn't get time off, and knew the trip from work to downtown would be brutal. And I'm not a big fan of huge crowds. But SO and talked about it and decided it would be like having the opportunity to see MLK do his I Have a Dream speech and skipping it.

So we went. It was crazy, it was chaotic, cell service was overwhelmed. But for some reason, my friend on the west coast was able to get through to me, so she gave me updates on the results as they rolled in. None of us in line to get into the rally knew what was going on because we couldn't get online, so I would yell them out as she told me and the information would move like the wave through the line.

When they called it for BO, the roar was unbelievable. There were cars honking and people screaming and hugging. I'll never forget it. We ended up way in the back and couldn't really see, but just being there was electric. I still get goosebumps. To have hope after 8 years of Dubya felt like the dawning of a new day.

Sadly we didn't know how bad it would get just 8 years later.

What an opportunity. You were apart of history. I went to BO's announcement speech here in Springfield at the Old State Capitol building. I used to work at the bank across the street. As I was arriving I heard George Clooney speaking. My knees about buckled. I think they were expecting around 5,000 people to show up and it ended up being over 25,000! I stood on a sidewalk on the east side of the plaza. I ended up leaving before he actually appeared. I regret it but I wouldn't have been able to see anything anyway and it was just too cold for me. At least I bought two campaign buttons while was there, so I have souvenirs. I ended up watching it at home with my fuzzy slippers on and a large mug of hot cocoa.

As a bonus here's when he was back in Springfield to announce Joe Biden as his running mate. I wasn't able to go to that one but my next door neighbor did. He said it was so hot some people were fainting.
