(2,657 posts)It takes time to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Accords. The way it is currently set up, the U.S. actually pulls out of the accords the day after the 2020 election. If a Democrat wins the Presidency, the pullout is dead.

People in the Reagan campaign in 1980 thought it would be a good idea to coordinate with the Iranians.
People in the Trump campaign in 2016 though it would be a good idea to coordinate with Russians.
It makes no difference whether it is with foes or allies, for a political campaign to coordinate with foreign governments invites foreign interference in US politics.
