(11,358 posts)Rod may have been involved with more than one thing .. but what tripped him up was trying to sell (allegedly) his ability to appoint Obama's replacement to the Senate.
(interestingly .. that was a case that really DID hang on a suggested quid-pro-quo .. with Blago's defenders claiming nothing more than run of the mill, standard issue, political horse trading.)
In this case, I don't see the similarity to campaign cash for endorsement. I don't know if this is technically illegal .. but every third grader out there can tell you it's WRONG.
(then again .. there's a lot of stuff in politics that's horse trading. "I scratch your back .." We should maybe step back from being too "delicate" in all instances?)

(10,839 posts)How is this so different than Trump offering cash to Senators to curry favor prior to the Senate's trial? Grease a few palms in order to get the results you wish. Not a good look!
Can we please scratch off the wisdom that billionaire business people are automatically good presidential candidates?
That being said, this purportedly was done by an aide. Was Steyer aware of the aide's action? And isn't this the second aide with questionable behavior? Doesn't say much about the man's ability to choose top people.

(11,358 posts)OMG, YES!! I cringe every time this comes up. By WHAT rationale .....?
On the other hand .. they made a friggin movie out of M.Zuckerberg .. perhaps one of the least charismatic (or sympathetic) public figures in existence .. and people ate it up!

(14,628 posts)If Trump taught us anything, it's that being 'successful' in business doesn't translate well to high-level politics. The government is not a business and cannot be operated like one.
