Connie Schultz (Sherrod Brown's wife) on Elizabeth Warren

1/ First, a disclosure: I first knew Elizabeth Warren as my husband's colleague in the U.S. Senate. She & I have had some brief, meaningful conversations over the last few years, but I would not presume to describe us as friends.
And yet.

2/ After my brother's suicide in July, Elizabeth Warren texted. Then she called. And then she wrote a personal note of support.
This was during one of the darkest times of my life, and I had no intention of sharing this publicly.
Until now, in response to recent coverage.

3/ This is not an endorsement of Elizabeth Warren the candidate, but an affirmation of who I know her to be. Anyone falsely casting her as angry & antagonistic is telegraphing the limits of their minds, & the magnitude of their insecurities.

4/ Women have always known that kindness is part of our strength, and that this confounds those who think we have to choose. It’s our not-so-secret power, and it worries only those who think they’re going to stand in our way.

Dayum. Connie said this perfectly. I know the pain of losing my brother to suicide, so I know hers as well. My brother died on the first day of my first vacation in two years. It rained that day.

Thank you Senator Warren. As Connie said, this is no endorsement, it is one woman that knows her strength and another woman that gives it unconditionally.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
