(92,235 posts)glide us through 2020, it raises the possibility of more uncertainty, especially given the fact that it appears the Senate republicans are not interested in a short impeachment trial in the Senate, but want to stretch it out as long as they can in hopes of sabotaging those Democratic Senators who are running for President by interfering with their campaigning into 2020.
For those that are convinced that the impeachment hearings will be to our advantage, I wouldn't count on that either. Most likely it won't move the needle either direction.
The one saving grace we have I believe is similar to what Speaker Pelosi said, that it will be trump's actions and rhetoric will effectively involve his "self-impeachment", by losing in 2020, rather then being removed by Congress

(22,877 posts)I hope people will look at how late this is.. we are 80 days or so away from the Iowa caucus and the start of the craziness of getting our candidate sorted out. Its just getting too late to jump in. And I like Deval Patrick. I know that Trump is taking a whacking right now, and it has people who did not jump in before, thinking wow this could be it.

(92,235 posts)not thrilled about this at all.
A long primary would prevent us from getting our act together sooner, and we would be not only taking blows from each other through differences in our candidates views on the issues, but from trump and the republicans, the adversary we should all be united against.
A brokered convention would be a very divisive process, and I do not agree with those that believe regardless who our nominee is, the "blue wave" will glide us to victory in 2020, are really reading this wrong.
Just observing what happened in the midterms, and the latest elections in Virginia and Kentucky, those victories came about from moderate Democrats, and one very unpopular incumbent governor in Kentucky
