(2,061 posts)I believe Shumlin is the one who appointed Jane Sanders to the Texas Low Level Radioactive Waste Commission. Long relationship there.

(10,830 posts)Governor Shumlin and his team attempted to provide M4A (GreenMountain Care) for the state of Vermont. The man was dedicated to the mission but was unable to get the numbers to fly without reducing coverage or raising taxes to onerous levels. In the one article I read, he was quoted as saying he feared Bernie Sanders and his supporters had not taken the right lessons from Vermont's M4A attempt, that without reducing healthcare costs and drug pricing first, Medicare for All would be unattainable.
Under the circumstances, this endorsement for Joe is very telling. And, of course, Governor Shumlin is correct: this is the most consequential election of our lifetime. We must choose the best qualified candidate who can beat the living daylights out of Trump.
And that candidate, the one with the broadest reach and appeal, is:
Joe Biden.

Biden has received a litany of endorsements ranging from former Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin this week to former Democratic candidate for the 2020 nomination Rep. Tim Ryan to more than 130 foreign policy officials.
Even as the former vice president announced his intention to run for the Democratic nomination, he scored a large number of endorsements from members of Congress from around the country, including senators from his native state of Pennsylvania and Delaware, a state he represented in Congress for over 30 years.
And Biden has far more endorsements from party elites than any other Democratic contender.
