I see the knives are out for Tulsi big time now...

She's been a Democrat all her life and even #2 in the DNC but that's not as good as one candidate who refuses to join the party at all and another who was a Republican until a few years ago.

So, Fox picked up a remark and pushed it, but that means she made the comment for Fox to pick up? Seems to me at least one other candidate bitched and moaned about the party at some time. But an old feud with Hillary automatically puts her in the wrong.

Where is that proof that an Army major is in the pocket of the Russians, anyway? Didn't we just blow up about the slurs about a light colonel we happen to like?

I am no fan of Tulsi, but she doesn't seem to deserve this treatment. She is, after all, a Democrat running for President and should at least be treated as every other candidate is.

Do we still have this thing about not trashing Democrats? Or is it only certain Democrats. Even if they aren't registered Democrats.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

why does she even want to be a DEm. Was it because it was the easiest way to get elected in Hawaii? And that fake 'lawsuit' against HRC does her no favors. And didn't she recently go after PBO.

I am not happy about all the non-DEms allowed to run under the Dem banner with republican/independent Bloomberg being the latest. They have no loyalty to the aims of the party and different agendas from the Dem platform and I'm getting pretty fed up with them taking up time and space that I feel should go to our candidates.

to back Bernie in 2016. Most of her policies would very much fit in a Sanders or Warren rally, and if she runs as a 3rd Party candidate it will more than likely be as a Green, which is very far from a moderate party. She is (or was) the number one choice for Bernie's VP from his supporters. Many DSA'ers supporter her.

The only reason she gets traction (and it is 95% plazzy aka faux, fake, phoney) from Rethugs in polls, etc, is because they are using her as a disruptive force to divide et impera our Party, due to her propensity to bash the mainstream Dem establishment. 95% plus of Rethugs would never ever support her actual polices and legislative agenda.

Warren rally at all. She was a Sanders supporter in 2016 primarily because she hated HRC and that was a good way to stick it to her. She may support some of the same policies as Sanders, but she would never support Warren because she hasn't put much thinking into anything. Warren has. Moreover, some of Warren's policies may sound like some policies of Sanders. But Warren's are actually different, much as some try to equate them and otherwise to make her into something that she is not. She is NOT, e.g., a far-left ideologue and is also extremely effective at compromise. She is one of the most effective Dems in the Senate per GovTrack and she is currently the Vice-Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus. Apparently, I cannot repeat these facts often enough.

Except maybe Gabbard.

And the corollary- "Speak no evil of ANY Democrat."

Except Gabbard.

And how those who feel this way have no second thoughts or excuses-- that's just the way it is and you may be too stupid or ignorant to see it.

So, are we supporting Democrats? Just some Democrats? Or just people we decide are Democrats?

run by Chris Butler, her father was a Republican politician, and she was actively engaged in protests against abortion and LGBT equality into her early twenties. And in 2013, when she was asked to campaign in Hawaii for the same-sex marriage bill, she refused (unlike Mazie Hirano and other Dems.) In a January 2016 interview in Ozy she said that her personal views were unchanged; she just no longer thought she should impose them on other people.

It is no surprise that people like Steve Bannon, Breitbart, and Trey Gowdy love her. They can see her attacking the Democrats from within.

And she is the one who never misses a chance to smear Hillary Clinton. The fact that this is an "old" habit of hers doesn't excuse it.

22. "Do we still have this thing about not trashing Democrats?" you ask
Thu Nov 21, 2019, 06:42 AM
Nov 2019

Yes. Only it is Tulsi Gabbard who is doing the trashing.

I don't want to personalize this. But, if, as you seem to show from your choice of candidate (Klobuchar) are defending Gabbard, it seems inexplicable. Klobuchar is the anti-Gabbard in every sense of the word. And if you open your eyes, Gabbard may be benefitting from RW and Russian bot and financial support largely because of her support for a pull-out in Syria and defense of Assad and less so for her Trump-like support of Russia and Putin, but it is there nonetheless.

November 18, 2019 (not a historical study whatsoever, but conducted by the well respected Clint Watts):
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/russian-web-trolls-boo-biden-often-boost-gabbard-report-finds-n1085216

WASHINGTON — Among Democrats running for president, Tulsi Gabbard is popular with Russian propagandists, while Joe Biden draws the most criticism, according to a new analysis.

Mentions of Gabbard, a Hawaii congresswoman, by English-language Russian propaganda outlets were 46 percent favorable and 44 percent unfavorable, a research team from the Foreign Policy Research Institute found after analyzing more than 1,700 news stories put out by Sputnik and Russia Today, or RT. She was the only Democratic candidate with more favorable than unfavorable mentions.

References to the former vice president, by contrast, were 3 percent favorable and 53 percent unfavorable. The rest were neutral.

For Russia thus far, Biden is to 2020 what Hillary Clinton was to 2016, the researchers found.

"When I watched Russian state-sponsored content and social media trolling headed into election 2016, it was overwhelmingly negative toward Hillary Clinton. The same could be said today of former Vice President Biden," said Clint Watts, a former FBI agent and NBC News contributor who led the effort.

I've had it with those who refuse to see what she (Gabbard) is doing. Willful ignorance is the worst kind IMHO.

It isn't merely a difference of political position with Gabbard. She is content to be the RW foil--however unwitting-- with Russian support--again, whether willingly accepting or not. I resent the interference in both the General election and our own primaries. I also deeply resent her attack on the Democratic Party and Democrats in general. She can't even be bothered to correctly define the name of the party, but rather buys into Newt Gingrich's long propagated slur, "the DemocRAT" party.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/newselection2020/5-takeaways-from-the-5th-democratic-debate/ar-BBX5H3I?li=BBnb7Kz

After Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, criticized former Secretary of State and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as the “personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic party,” the moderators asked Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., giving her the opportunity to share her grievances from debates ago.

After Gabbard criticized Harris’ record as a prosecutor in the second debate, Harris sharply chided Gabbard, responding, “I think that it's unfortunate that we have someone on this stage who is attempting to be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States who during the Obama administration spent four years full time on Fox News criticizing President Obama.”

Why the hell is someone like Gabbard elected to office as a Democrat? Her politics is truly disgusting.

Thu Nov 21, 2019, 07:51 AM
Nov 2019

First, it already starts with the surprising claim that she has been a Dem all her life...
Then, it was almost immediately clarified that it's the Repubs and not the Russians who might be grooming Gabbard for the third party run. As for internet support, it's a fact that Russian bots support her and that she's among one of very few who get positive coverage from them which stands in contrast to pretty much every other Dem.

There might be a chance for Gabbard to be treated as other candidates if she weren't so openly hostile to the party. It couldn't be more clearer that she is going for the anti-Dem votes, bashing the party left and right. Her support from Dems has collapsed by her own doing with her unhinged response to Clinton. Instead it's Repubs who keep her alive in the polls to qualify.
With all her baggage, she's still looking for fights, slandering the Democratic party right at the start and then being stupid enough to attack Pete with an out of context quote only to get demolished. But I'm sure she'll run to Hannity and Carlson again to bash the Democratic party more because that is what a normal Dem does.

Thu Nov 21, 2019, 08:48 AM
Nov 2019

Hillary wasn't claiming that Tulsi was working for Russia.

She was claiming that Russia has been working on behalf of Tulsi.

The former would be an explosive claim with only assumptions as proof. The latter is simply a fact based on russian bots, Russian media etc.

She went on to say that the GOP was grooming her to be a divisive figure and run third party. I think you can pretty much call that true as well.

Hillary took a lot of grief for that but the whole thing was misinterpreted. Tulsi is being used by those two outside forces to divide us. The degree to which she is participating in that may be in question but the GOP/KGB thing is real no matter how much she wants to complain about the charge.

I heard what she said about Clinton and Obama last night, and I am having none of it. Does she think attacking the party and some of its admired leaders is going to win her the nomination? Of course not. She knows she is not winning. She has another goal, IMO.

She's looking for a paying gig on TV, and she's not too particular about where it comes from. Her presidential run is just a tool to help accomplish that.

I doubt she's a Russian asset, but I also have zero time for anyone who downplays the Russian involvement in 2016, regardless of the side of the aisle on which they reside.

Regarding the feud with Hillary, she continued to push the false narrative about "Russians" vs. "Republicans" long after the story had been corrected. She's not naive. Her ignorance was intentional, which is a problem.

Sen. Harris responded to Gabbard attacking Democrats by saying:

I think that it’s unfortunate that we have someone on this stage that is attempting to be the democratic nominee for president of the United States, who during the Obama administration spent four years full time on Fox News criticizing President Obama. Who has been full time criticizing people on this stage as affiliated with the Democratic Party. When Donald Trump was elected, not even sworn in, buddied up to Steve Bannon to get a meeting with Donald Trump in Trump Tower, fails to call a war criminal by what he is as a war criminal.

To read and see more:

In my view, Gabbard can respond to the assertions and claim the assertions are untrue, or not.
