Youth

We are going to have to have some youth on our ticket. I was hoping to see the contrast between. Trump and a new generation but it's not to be. That said, a VP needs to be young. In have two kids that are just voting age. I work with and coach around hundreds of young adults. What worries me is they just don't relate to our potential nominees. I'm not saying they won't vote but the passion is miniscule to what I saw with Obama.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. I've worked with voting age college students...

They are always political and loud. But when it comes to voting, Repukes have made it harder with I D requirements.
Voting day is one day. Students have finals, a holiday coming up and aren’t available.
Lots of things that make it hard to vote.

But I find them psyched politically for candidates. Joe spoke at our major university and the crowd loved him. I would expect the same for Warren and Sanders.

Besides I don’t think you have to necessarily present younger candidates. Politically aware students are just like politically aware adults. Issues matter to them. They aren’t sheep. They have intelligent thoughts regarding politics.

2. All good points - but only a third of Americans go to college.

A lot of voting age youth are already members of the working poor.

I said they don’t necessarily need a young candidate.

If they are working poor there are even more obstacles to being able to vote.
It doesn’t mean they need to have a younger candidate to identify with the issues.

College is not where most voting-age youth are found.

5. I talk about them as they are my experience.

I really don’t think at 19 a college student is any more aware or in tune than a working 19 year old. But I can’t speak to that as my personal experience is with college students.
If you spent 30 years with working 19 year olds then you can speak to that.

I’m not trying to blanket any group.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

7. Here are a couple of things the "youth" overwhelmingly cares little about.

Healthcare
Taxes
Equal Rights
National Debt
Immigration
Marijuana
The List Goes On

We aren't suppose to talk about it like this because the truth might hurt a couple of passionate persons feelings. All good by me.

There is one reason to target the youth. It's easier to get them when they are young. By targeting the youth I'm talking about 18 and under. Has to be about the long game.

I'm not saying there doesn't need to be outreach to the younger generations. There does. We must put resources toward it. It's not about the age on the VP ticket. Right now I would venture to say that Sanders is probably holding the strongest youth support and the guy is fresh off a heart attack.

The visible youth will always be to the outskirts of societal ideology. From antisemitic marchers in Charleston to protesters throwing things at "stars" because of what they are wearing. So much of the individual youth are simply tying to figure their own shit out. We put way too much on people. Rugged fucking individualism.
