"SNIP.....
A new Quinnipiac poll finds Joe Biden leading the Democratic field with 24%, followed by Pete Buttigieg at 16%, Elizabeth Warren at 14% and Bernie Sanders at 13%.
They are followed by Michael Bloomberg, Kamala Harris and Amy Klobuchar at 3%. Cory Booker, Andrew Yang, Julian Castro, and Michael Bennet each receive 2%. No other candidate tops 1%. Eleven percent are undecided.
This represents a 14-point drop for Warren and a 6-point rise for Buttigieg compared to a late October poll. In comparison, Biden and Sanders have remained relatively stable.

(34,467 posts)I think Warrens income tax policies are going to/are already hurting her with the expensive-metro suburban voters who are college-educated. By lumping people who are middle class in these areas (given costs of living) in with those who earn millions per year, she may appear to be out of touch with their lives. This group helped swing 2018 our way and almost enabled Clinton to win in 2016.
I say this as someone who very much admires her character and achievements, and who believes that all the candidates know that their proposals will not be passed as-is. I really wish she would re-think some of her plans to keep those that would help lower income people but revise those that may alienate important voting blocs.

(58,785 posts)come to support any solid competent Democrat who committed to their requirements AND became the most electable. Just as they have so far. They've lost a lot of ground with and since the great recession, in spite of President Obama, and no one's in more danger of more losses than them if the Republicans win again.
So I suspect a big reason Warren's not gained more with them, and everyone, is because she's being seen as likable but not the most electable, or likely to be.
Then, of course, there are the others you were referring to.

(1,812 posts)She went from being a strong supporter of MFA to claiming middle class taxes would not have to go up in order to finance this gigantic program No serious person bought that proposition ..Then Elizabeth claimed that she was going to pursue the public option, not MFA , in her first 100 days . ...No serious person believes that MFA is going to be passed after the 2022 mid terms ....When you try to please everybody you end up pleasing no one . This debacle damaged her image as everyone's favorite college professor .. Too political a look ..She still has a shot ...People have very short memory span these days

(19,968 posts)was a massive error. It only took a few days for Kamala to realise she made a massive mistake when she flip-flopped on getting rid of private healthcare companies, but even then it was too late. I'm surprised that it took this long for the MFA/Private Healthcare to catch up with Warren. What's gutting about that is there has been little else that isn't popular about her, but you threaten to take away someone's healthcare (that they're happy with), on the vague promise of jam tomorrow, it's the thing of attack ad heaven.

(15,372 posts)still the highest ranked second choice. That is a very important point.
She's taken a real beating recently - just because she actually spells out what she plans. Too many have taken advantage of that to mischaracterize those plans or wholly to smear her with them. What too many seem to forget all too quickly is that she is open to modifying her plans and has already done so.
Sadly, those of her detractors who do notice her practical side merely seize the opportunity to beat her to death with that.
Others literally do NOT have plans, just vague promises, and most have no real experience in actual implementation as she does (e.g., practically creating the CFPB from nothing), merely in legislation.
Don't forget that she took hits much earlier in her campaign and came back then. Her grassroots organization is still among the best, if not THE best. Grassroots organization is literally what will win elections.
I sincerely believe that she will come back again. The electorate is still quite fluid. Elizabeth is not a sprinter; she is a marathoner.
And she persists!
