California Democrat John Garamendi endorses Biden for president

By Veronica Stracqualursi, CNN

Updated 1:00 PM ET, Sat November 30, 2019

(CNN)US Rep. John Garamendi on Saturday endorsed Joe Biden's 2020 presidential bid during an interview with CNN, saying he's "all in" for the former vice president.

"I want Joe Biden to be our next president," the California Democrat said on "CNN Newsroom" Saturday, backing Biden over two other Democratic candidates running who have ties to California: US Sen. Kamala Harris and billionaire Tom Steyer.

"I want somebody that comes from the middle class, from the working American to be our president that understands what it is to try to make it in America as a family, working in a factory, on a construction job, or in an office, trying to put together the necessary resources to educate their kid, to provide their health care. That's Joe Biden," Garamendi told CNN's Fredricka Whitfield. "That's where he's been through his entire career."

He praised the other Democratic candidates as "terrific," but said what really cemented his decision was that the current government in is "total chaos."

Repuke congress plans a raid on California's Delta water

"Plain and simple, it's a water raid on the delta," said Rep. John Garamendi, D-Walnut Grove (Sacramento County), who waged trench warfare in the committee by offering more than 20 amendments. All were defeated, but Garamendi said he was "laying down a track of information that will be useful later."

Bill Supports eLoran as GPS Backup

A bi-partisan group of legislators led by Congressman John Garamendi (D-Calif.) has introduced a bill that would require the U.S. Secretary of Defense to establish a backup for GPS within three years using eLoran

The omnibus military spending bill known as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) rolled out of the House Armed Services Committee pulling a trailer load of amendments and barreling down an increasingly potholed road. In the same week as news broke of massive school closings in Chicago and Philadelphia for lack of funding, only two members of the committee, California representatives Jackie Speier and John Garamendi, had the presence of mind to vote "no" on $637.5 billion more for drones, nukes, and missile "defense" in FY2014.

As Joe Biden would say, This is a big fucking deal - $449 million granted to Sites Reservoir Project

They will be joined by Rep. Jeff Denham, Rep. David Valadao, Rep. Jim Costa and Rep. John Garamendi to tour the area where the reservoir would be constructed and hold a roundtable discussion on the project.
