(37,748 posts)'cause that ol' horse got tired out a long, long time ago... despite the petulant and unsupported insistence on its continued beating.
It's tough to avoid hitting straw-men when they're the only target one has.

(25,493 posts)I think the writing was on the wall for her campaign well before he entered. His entry might have been the final nail, but she has been lagging in the polls for a few months now and couldn't seem to get any momentum.

(22,879 posts)But she could have kept going.. but if you are in Iowa right now, and you could see the flood , I mean absolute flood of political commercials that we are enduring here, you would understand how dispiriting it is for people who are having to fight for the bucks..especially when the bull run in and buy up everything..and someone who does not even have to take time to raise money.. God.. its gets to be too much

(25,493 posts)She hasn't polled in double digits in any poll since August and has been steadily trending downward since the first debate.
If she or others want to believe or insist that Bloomberg is the reason she's dropping out, that's her/their prerogative. It may certainly be a factor, but there's clearly more to it than that, and she had been unable to acquire any momentum well before he entered.
It's an incredibly difficult and personal decision, and it's difficult to look at the situation rationally at that moment.
