Mainstream media sees a puzzling obstacle to Pete Buttigieg's rise: The voters

Media's centrist crush continues: Buttigieg's "surge" encounters a "significant hurdle" — voters aren't interested

https://www.salon.com/2019/12/16/mainstream-media-sees-a-puzzling-obstacle-to-pete-buttigiegs-rise-the-voters/

“‘Everyone’s Going to Come for Pete’: Buttigieg Faces Debate Spotlight,” declared Politico (11/19/19), claiming the candidate’s “fast rise in recent early-state polls has come with new scrutiny and made him a big target.” Besides the “surge” that made him “a serious threat to the top Democratic presidential candidates” (and thus “makes the debate a serious threat for him”), there had just been what Politico described as a “dust-up”: Buttigieg, whose support among African Americans nationally was, as recently as August, roughly 0% (and who had quite possibly leaked a memo putting that down to black people’s homophobia), had been promoting his “Douglass Plan for Black America” in materials that deceptively implied the endorsement of hundreds of black South Carolinians. All three of the prominent leaders named at the top of one press release (Intercept, 11/15/19) said they were misrepresented.

The alleged “Buttigieg boom” may now be crumbling under the candidate’s stubborn opacity around his funders and great swaths of his career, as well as the entry into the field of fellow centrist Michael Bloomberg. Such as it was, the phenomenon was based largely on two small, white states early in the primary process; Buttigieg showed few signs of breaking out of fourth place — either nationally, or in the larger and more diverse states, like California, that are more representative of the Democratic electorate.

He has many detailed policy proposals. The following sentence is WRONG:

"...he hasn’t posted any detailed policy proposals on his website.”

And the fact that you, Hassin Bin Sober, are promoting Bernie Sanders, makes me suspicious of your motives.

We are supposed to be talking about how great the candidate we support is--not tearing down the other candidates.

Salon should be ashamed of writing such low-quality writing for an obvious Sanders supporter attacking another Democrat out of immature petty jealousy.

The key word is "may". I don't see where we should give more credence to the author's opinion than the opinion from anyone else.

The RCP average shows Buttigieg ahead in Iowa and within a 2% difference of Sanders in New Hampshire which is amazing considering Bernie is from an adjacent state. Perhaps the voters in New Hampshire know something about Bernie that turns them off to his candidacy?

This doesn't look very good for BS.

Let's hope he eventually gets out of second gear and begins campaigning competitively.

Fingers crossed!

convention trying to win with a brokered convention...I want Biden to beat the crap out of all of them..and that is the truth and move on to beating the crap out of Trump...in June if it goes to the convention we have five months...just five months...and Trump will have been campaigning for a full year...we could lose this election. The sooner we get behind a nominee the better...and I think Biden has the best maybe only chance to beat Trump in the states we need to win. As for Salon...fuck them. They are discredited by their behavior last time and I believe nothing they say.
