Hillary led by double digits at the same point four years ago and my impression has been that Virginia has only moved left since then.

temporarily, and some recent polls indicate that's happened.

And this was always going to be a close race.

The polls that werre showing a number of Democrats with large leads, even double digit leads, over Trump reflected advantages in Democratic strongholds, not electoral college advantages.

Anyway, this poll could be wrong. We have very few Virginia state polls so far.

But I think it's worth looking at as a reminder that

1) Trump can be beaten, but

2) beating Trump isn't guaranteed, and we sure as hell can't assume every Democratic candidate could beat him (which is something I've seen a number of people here claim, and which is simply wrong and a dangerous fantasy to cling to).

I also always believed that impeachment was more likely to be damaging than helpful unless something more substantial was found...

... this is just a shockingly bad poll.

It makes Biden look more electable than the field... but less electable than Clinton was.

It's purple, but definitely blueish-purple. But, yeah: Trump could win VA in 2020, and if he does, we lose.

That's why a lot of us were wary of it to begin with. I mean, everybody hates "I told you so", but I kept saying it would solidify his supporters, and it is.
