Amy Klobuchar is returning a presidential campaign donation from Linda Fairstein, the controversial former Manhattan sex crimes prosecutor who led the botched and racially charged Central Park 5 case.
The Democratic candidate for the White House, rising in recent polls thanks to strong debate performances, says she is returning Fairstein’s $1,000 donation.

The ex-prosecutor also donated to Elizabeth Warren in 2012 — and Warren also disavowed her support.
The Central Park 5 case may play a role in the 2020 presidential election. President Trump infamously called for the young suspects to be executed in a full-page ad at the time, when he was a prominent real estate developer in the city.
