Joe Biden Fires Warning Shot Over 'Ridiculous' Sanders Comments: 'Bernie's Got Enough Baggage'

https://www.mediaite.com/news/joe-biden-fires-warning-shot-over-ridiculous-sanders-comments-bernies-got-enough-baggage/

Former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden laughed off “ridiculous” criticism from Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and made a not-too-cryptic reference to Sanders’ political “baggage” in response to a similar remark from Sanders.

On Friday, Biden was asked to respond to criticism from Sanders over foreign policy, and Biden used the opportunity to take a shot at Sanders while declining to comment.

A reporter told Biden that Sanders was using the escalating crisis with Iran to “question your judgment about Iraq,” that Sanders “talked about how he was right and you were wrong,” and asked “What’s your response?”

“I don’t respond to Bernie’s ridiculous comments,” Biden said with a smile.

“Do you have any questions about Bernie Sanders’ judgment on foreign policy?” another reporter asked.

“You’re not going to get me in a fight with Bernie,” Biden said, adding “Bernie’s got enough baggage.”

Joe Biden called the criticism ridiculous. This is essentially saying that the criticism was untrue. He did not say, "Bernie Sanders is ridiculous".

If Bernie Sanders claimed that the highest posted speed limit in the country was 100 mph, and Joe Biden said, "That's ridiculous", he would be saying that what Bernie Sanders claimed was untrue. The highest posted speed limit in America is actually 85 mph and can only be found on Texas State Highway 130.

I guess you can use what someone else said bad about a Democratic candidate and get away with it. This is supposed to be a debate forum, take responsibility for one's positions. I hate insinuations that someone said that so and so did this or that. I want to know how the poster feels.

And I won’t let a thread like this go without pointing out the vitriol against the candidate who raised the most money from the most donors in the last quarter. You all sound like a bunch of hurt dogs yelping in pain.

Sanders didn’t say a thing here against Biden other than point to his record. So my e reporter did- with the intent to stir crap up.

Say what you will about the benefits/plans/goals of your own candidate- and feel free to point to candidates actual record votes- but stop tearing down others.

In fact Biden, Sanders, and Warren all missed a lot of votes during their campaigns.

From Jan 1973 to Jan 2009, Biden missed 1,781 of 14,556 roll call votes, which is 12.2%.

From Jan 2007 to Dec 2019, Sanders missed 503 of 4,025 roll call votes, which is 12.5%.

From Jan 2013 to Dec 2019, Warren missed 242 of 2,186 roll call votes, which is 11.1%.

Our previous successful presidential candidate:
From Jan 2005 to Oct 2008, Obama missed 314 of 1,300 roll call votes, which is 24.2%.

It's all there if you wanna snoop around. You'll notice they all have spikes in missed votes during presidential campaigns. This is generally a good thing. Kind of hard to win a campaign if you spend all your time in DC.
