He got 51 percent in 2016. It’s a state that’s trending red. No matter who we nominate, he’ll be a slight favorite in Iowa come November.

2008 and 2012 - Obama won
2004 - GW won, but it was very close
2000 - Al Gore won
1992 and 1996 - Bill Clinton won
1988 - Michael Dukakis won

Somehow, I'd thought Trump's insane tariffs would push a lot of Iowans more toward Democrats.

Of course, I'd still like to know WHO they polled.

This shows me three things:

o tRump's support in Iowa has declined since the election;

o any of our currently leading candidates are competitive in Iowa; and

o Iowan's aren't responding to the fear-mongering re: "socialism" to the extent most would have progressives believe -- there's actually ope that American's see the difference between government programs intended to benefit the people at large vs "socialism" as an economic system.
