Thousands turn out for Elizabeth Warren at her first Brooklyn rally

The Kings Theatre’s 3,000 seats were filled to capacity Tuesday night as Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren took the stage, less than a month away from the first Democratic presidential primary election.

Warren, who has raised more Brooklyn dollars from individual donors than any other candidate, was greeted by an overflow crowd at her first Brooklyn rally, joined by former presidential candidate Julián Castro, who endorsed her on Monday

That woman has an excellent sense of how to stand out on stage. Her color sense is as good as her economic insights! And there's that selfie-with-Liz thing.... And now Julian Castro is endorsing her!

I saw her in The View and was also struck by how much respect she commands. She always seems to be the brightest person in the room... with the exception of Whoopie Goldberg who has emotional IQ (stagecraft) through the roof. (Now that would be an interesting team.)

..."the event concluded with a selfie-line, where all the night’s attendees could get photographed with the senator — and Castro — if they were willing to endure the long wait times"

"You know, the lines keep getting longer. That's a good thing," Warren said Tuesday. "I put on my sneakers and a cooler sweater so that we can keep doing it last night, but it was terrific. It was being able to say heart-to-heart to people who came in from all around the area and who really are in this fight, who believe that we're going to get together, we're going to fight hard and we're going to change this country."

“That’s 100,000 hugs and handshakes and stories,” she continued. “Stories of people struggling with student loan debt, stories of people that can’t pay their medical bills, stories from people that can’t find child care.”

Great stuff

"Before entering the theater, Warren gave an impromptu speech to an overflow crowd in the rain"

She talked at length about her Wealth Tax proposal, and discussed child care and tuition free college in detail, but health care was only referenced in a throwaway line at the end.

It was her moderate competitors who wanted to talk about it because they had no answer to her corruption platform or wealth tax. It was a venerability, but it was Bernie's scheme and they let him off the hook, and still do.

A true blue FDR Democrat

The American people know from a four-year record that today there is only one entrance to the White House—by the front door. Since March 4, 1933, there has been only one pass-key to the White House. I have carried that key in my pocket. It is there tonight. So long as I am President, it will remain in my pocket. Those who used to have pass-keys are not happy. Some of them are desperate. FDR, Maddison Square Garden speech.

They are as desperate today to keep their pass-keys and speed dials to the Oval Office as they were in 1936.

They didnt travel to appear in primary election states back in 1932_ he won at the Chicago convention on the 4th ballot

He flew in from New York after learning he won, thats where he made his New Deal speech

"This is more than a political campaign, it is a call to arms"

The Democratic platform included a call for the repeal of Prohibition

but less than the 2/3 majority required by Party rules . A simple majority sufficed from 1936 onwards. The "brokering" as such was persuading Speaker Garner, who had 8% of the delegates the first round, to withdraw and accept the position of running mate.
