'We have a lot of work to do.' Biden vows to defeat hate, intolerance in Arlington TX visit
https://www.star-telegram.com/news/politics-government/article239299633.htmlFormer Vice President Joe Biden traveled to Arlington Wednesday night to share a message: Its not too late to rid the country of intolerance.
Some mornings that I wake up, I wonder whether or not we are living in 2020 or 1920, he told a crowd of African-American delegates gathered at the National Baptist Convention Mid-Winter Board Meeting in Arlington. I hear the voices of intolerance singing the chorus of hate, intolerance.
I hear the echoes of the not so distant past, he said. When you hear that call, you cant sit around. You cant wish and pray for things to get better. ... We have a lot of work to do.
Biden said he believed the country was on the verge of so much more progress when Barack Obama was president.
Now it seems as though so much is under attack, he said. Hate never goes away. It just hides. ... And leaders give it oxygen, as Trump has done. It comes roaring back.
-snip-
Biden, a Roman Catholic, is the only presidential candidate who spoke to the Baptist conventions mid-winter meeting this week.
He had many supporters in the crowd and it wasnt just because he served as vice president to Obama.
I support Joe Biden because I believe he will be able to heal some of the division in our nation and bring a more positive political environment, said Maurice White, a delegate and pastor in Ruston, Louisiana. I believe hes the best candidate to move to the center ... to get our nation back on track.

This is the first news story I've seen about his speech, which Bloomberg's Jennifer Epstein was tweeting about earlier. I posted another OP about her tweets, with more quotes from his speech:

OP
Good point. I just added TX to the subject line, though it wasn't in the paper's headline.

We won't stop the hate, the cruelty or the massive damage the Squatter-in-Chief and his wrecking crew have done and will continue to do to the country's basic institutions, the very ones that protect people.
Our future, the one we hand off to our kids, pivots on the results in November.
It really is that critical.
