President Bernie Sanders
It really could happen.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/16/opinion/bernie-sanders-2020.html
There have been two polls of Iowa Democrats released in the past week. Bernie Sanders led one of them. Joe Biden led the other but that polls sample appeared to be light on several groups of voters (like millennials) who often support Sanders, as Nate Cohn of The Times pointed out.
All of which points to the same conclusion: Sanders has a real shot of winning the Democratic nomination. Only a couple of months after he suffered a mild heart attack, that counts as a surprise. On the new episode of The Argument, Ross Douthat, Michelle Goldberg and I talk about the reasons for Sanderss strong position, as well as about his strengths and weaknesses.

(175,742 posts)First time I've ever heard this. A very distant cousin (and one I don't know) was one of those hostages. Also, there was no "rush to war" on Jimmy Carter's part.

In a general election, the attack ads would write themselves:

I personally wouldn't want to support someone Ronald Radosh could like. I realize opinions on that sort of thing can vary.

(3,855 posts)Trump can't' attack Sanders on trade
He can't attack Sanders on War and Iraq
He cant attack Sanders on Wall Street
Trump can't even really attack Sanders on the Socialism thing because Sanders would just go "Damn right. What are you going to do about it"
sanders, however, can attack trump on all the false progressive promises he made and never kept.

...can even attack trump with the tens of thousands of trumpian-lies trump's made...
...Bernie will quickly and decisively crush trump with TRUTH...
...and Bernie's strong and fearless enough to it in SPADES...
...Bernie's not afraid of a trump...
...as a matter of fact, Bernie welcomes and relishes the upcoming brawl...

(3,163 posts)...right now, the Bernie-Bashers are trying to crucify Bernie, that's okay...this will pass...
...because the American people understand and know that Bernie's the real-deal...what America wants and needs from a new President, Bernie's prepared to deliver in spades...
...let the Bernie-Bashers play their silly games and have their silly fun...because every breathing American knows that trump says more offensive things in the first three tweets of everyday than Bernie's said in a lifetime...
...but when the time comes for some serious trump-bashing and ass-kicking, Bernie will be there, handing trump his own ass in a handbasket...
...guaranteed...

Rovian would be something very, very different than what you are saying, at least where Sanders is concerned.
