Social Security isn't getting cut and we're not getting MFA

If you're taking those into consideration when picking a candidate, I would advise against it. Neither are happening.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

It would be suicide to cut Social Security or Medicare.

I thought that sounded fishy, except, perhaps for Ms. Gabbard and her libertarian slant.

Everyone knows a MFA-type plan won’t get through Congress for decades at best and no one is currently running on cutting social security on either side that I have seen.

I do believe we can get a public option (that would likely be contracted out to existing insurance companies to administer regardless).

Most people want to here about realistic solutions, not an all or nothing fantasy.

win the Senate, I don't think enough Dems would vote for it. Many forget a lot of Dems are beholden to corporate lobbyists just like the GOP. I do think that Medicare for those that want it is an option and that is possible. Also major reform regarding Pharma is unlikely, although I think Warren's proposal to contract mfg. generics is possible. The biggest thing for EVERYONE is we make sure that Trump doesn't get another 4 years. Not sure the planet can withstand it.

I so hope that he and his family all go to jail after he leaves - I know it won't happen - money is power in America.

All our candidates support and have defended SS. We need to remember what party is hellbent in getting rid and/or seriously damaging the program, as well as Medicare, Medicaid, the ACA, etc, any and all of the safety net programs.

It's never been the Democratic Party or its representatives or the vast majority of American voters. It's the GOP and their big money loyalists, the very people who have no problem supporting social Darwinism, only the strong and rich survive.

As for Medicare 4 All or universal coverage? No, it's not happening in the moment or in 3-5 years. But it is the ultimate goal now of the Democratic Party and its candidates. We'll get there but it will be a long, arduous battle. Right now, serving the greatest good to the greatest number is what we can push for, demand, accomplish.

Pragmatism is not a 4-letter word.

I agree with you that there is absolutely no chance a Dem would cut Social Security. But Republicans will continue to stand in the way of putting it on solid financial ground for the future. They'll continue trying to drive a wedge between young and old and continue to try to privatize. That's why I think we Dems should be saying that we will strengthen Social Security.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
