Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWhy Biden is the best candidate..With Biden we win. Here is why:
..We must win. With Biden we will win. ......
..Because of the constant news...Every time that the word "Biden" is mentioned, most of people in the U.S.A.think about that Trump tried to get dirt on Biden by paying someone off
Now this isn't once in a while, this is what the word Biden is connected with..and impeachment. Further: the great majority of people in the U.S.A. think that this was illegal and wrong. Because of the news and the constant news of the impeachment, and cause of the impeachment, it does make sense to remind people as often as possible, that Trump is a crook and a liar.
...In a presidential race between Biden and Trump, the people in the U.S.A, will be reminded millions of times that Trump is a crook with the mention of Biden's name. And further, when Trump denies that he did anything wrong to Biden, (as he is doing now, and has done) Trump will be seen again, as a liar & crook.
________________________________________________________________________________________
..We must win. Trump must be gone in a year. With Biden, it will be an overwhelming win because of the three paragraphs above. You can disagree, and that is what this is all about, but those three paragraphs are the stones solid truth. Biden is an automatic winner.
..Of course the other candidates are qualified and would make outstanding Presidents of the U.S.A. but we must win to save this country. Those three paragraphs are the way to win. Yes, of course, 25 to 35 percent believe that Trump did nothing wrong...But if 65 percent think Trump did something wrong, and vote for our candidate, Joe Biden, there is no doubt that we will win, and win by a landslide. And we must get Trump out. We must win. With Biden, the country will be reminded every time the word is mentioned that Trump is a crook. And that is one hell of a message to send to the country. No argument, just one word. "Biden"

(42,641 posts)This is an interesting viewpoint, and one I had not considered. That Trump's attempt to smear Biden might rebound against Trump himself.
I think what adds to your argument is that most US voters already know that Trump might be the most unethical individual to ever occupy the office of President. And Trump is unlikeable on a personal level, and ignorant on nearly every subject.
And Biden, by contrast, is well informed on the issues, and people like him. And that likeability is no small thing. A person might disagree with him on any particular issue, but even GOP politicians like him. Now, in the age of Trump, these GOP cowards might be afraid to say it, but one suspects that they do still like Biden.

(6,110 posts)So I am supporting Warren simply because I love her main agenda issues and she has the energy of a 39 year old. She is fully capable of holding 100 rallies in 2020. And she will need to do it because tRump will hold 100 rallies.

(2,212 posts)Recently, I read an opinion piece where the author (I forget who) rhetorically asked, "Did we learn nothing in 2016? Trump is savagely effective at attacking mainstream establishment politicians."
The societal ills that made America fertile soil for a demagogue like Trump still remain. The middle class is shrinking and continues to be filled with fears and anxieties brought on by expensive healthcare (for those who can afford it), out-of-reach higher education, job insecurity, wage stagnation, and changing demographics. Right or wrong, they see establishment politicians as a big part of the problems in their lives -- many regard them more as enemies than allies.
Biden is vulnerable to the kind of attacks Trump likes to make. Yes, Biden and his son broke no laws in Ukraine; of course I get that. But there remains a big whiff of privilege and elitism surrounding Hunter Biden's $50K per month job at Burisma. Trump will harp on that to no end. He will paint Biden as a corrupt establishment politician, similar to what he did to Hillary in 2016, and some of that criticism will stick.

(2,212 posts)No doubt about that. And, unfortunately, because Trump spends a lot of time in the gutter, he's got a real knack for in-the-gutter attacks.
I think the question is, Who presents vulnerabilities that Trump will be most able to exploit in order to manipulate the populace?
And by that standard, I think Biden is especially vulnerable. Going back to the point of the OP here, he's making the case that any mention of Biden will remind voters of Trump's illegal and unconstitutional acts in regard to Ukraine. That's a valid point; I think that's true.
But the problem is this: For the Average Joe, they are more likely to be upset that:
(A) a politician's son received a cushy job earning more every month than the Average Joe earns all year;
than they are that:
(B) Donald Trump illegally pressured Ukraine to fabricate dirt on Biden.
In the case of B, I think the Average Joe is likely to think, "Yeah, well all politicians do that shit." In the case of A, however, the thinking is more likely to be, "Yeah, that's an outrage and that's a great example of how the politicians in Washington are fucking us over."
(Forgive the profanity. I'm trying to evoke a mindset here.)

(38,445 posts)..Perhaps, but when Trump throws out the dirt, the dirt will fly back to his face for most of the country. Trump has had 3 years to prove beyond a doubt that ..."Trump is a liar and a crook."...not just an accusation, but prove positive that this is who he is.
..Accusations will stick with those that want to believe. We are not going to convince them anyway. When Trump throws out those accusations, they will look silly to those who are informed about Trump. Forget the $50k, for Biden's son. What about paying someone in Ukraine to get dirt on Biden? Trump can harp all he wants, he will make himself look more stupid than he is. Yes, It will sound ok to the 30 to 35 that will vote for him, but it will sound foolish to the rest. That is what I believe.

(38,445 posts)Yes, people were willing to give him a chance, and there was cheating involved to get Trump elected. But the proof is now out there for all to see. Not a little proof, but a lot of proof. Trump will lose and lose big. He is a constant liar, all the time. (not some of the time). And Trump lies about anything and everything. He will lose but we do not want a close show, we want a big loss. No discussion and clear proof Trump is a looser, once and for all.

(976 posts)The people who believed trump when he said "crooked Hillary" already believe Biden and his son were doing something wrong in the Ukraine. trump will do what he always does; keep repeating the lie no matter how many fact-checkers refute him. This will force Biden to continually defend himself, which is not a winning position.

(976 posts)1) One of the reasons I support Sanders is because I believe he has the best chance of winning, just as the OP believes Biden has the best chance of winning. Please see my reason for supporting Sanders here - [link:https://www.democraticunderground.com/1287292045|
2) The OP stated the reasons for his position in a clear and reasonable fashion. I stated why I disagree in a similar fashion.
3) You are right, the fact that I support does not color my view. I am willing to listen to any reasonable position and will carefully consider it. I am not afraid to change my mind or admit that I was wrong.
4) If you have a valid criticism of the points I made, please say so.
5) Sarcasm and insults are not rebuttals.
