Here Come the Surrogates

Iowa Starting Line (email):

With impeachment locking down the senators running for president in D.C., their campaign surrogates will pick up the slack in Iowa. Here's who the senators announced would be traveling the state this week in their stead:

Elizabeth Warren
Julián and Joaquin Castro
Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson
Jonathan Van Ness

Bernie Sanders
AOC
Michael Moore
Phillip Agnew
Portugal. The Man
Mike Posner

Amy Klobuchar
John and Abigail Bessler
Representative Angie Craig
Representative Dean Phillips
USA Curling Gold Medalist Coach Phill Drobnick
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Sending AOC and some guy/gal named Portugal into Iowa is not exactly speaking to the masses.

Even in urban areas, they are not going to resonate with the locals.. Just saying.

I live close to the Iowa border, and have a lot of contact with Quad City politicians. We have property and family in Iowa. Even the Democrats there are fairly conservative. They will sneer at these surrogates. And AOC is greeted with more suspicion in the Midwest than people realize.

Actually that is just a small part of the Surrogates in the field.

Klobuchar has for example has dozens of Hotdish home parties with a current or former local state legislator and will Skype in if possible.

All of the campaigns will be doing some of that.

If this was a smaller field without big names (Biden, Sanders, Warren) I think she'd do well.

with using the same term for the speakers for other candidates as for Sanders' attack dogs.

Best to liars shouldn't be allowed to hide among honest people, and honest people don't deserve to be slurred by association.

One kind lies as SOP to defeat Democrats, the other doesn't and works to elect Democrats:

Castro spent time in the state and has connections. JVN is pretty popular right now, considered an absolute sweetheart that know how to connect with others and is a Midwest boy at heart. (He's from Illinois.)

I love curling and it's gaining popularity in the lower Midwest. A gold medalist coach is a good get. I also heard something about "hot dish open houses" where she might Skype when available. That's some fantastic branding if true.

primary today, I would vote for:
