Chicago Sun-TimesWASHINGTON Mayor Lori Lightfoot, a Democratic progressive, is going to make a presidential endorsement before the March 17 Illinois primary, and after talking to her on Thursday, Im pretty sure its not going to go to progressive rivals Sens. Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren.
Apparently not progressive enough for them, Lightfoot said.
I asked her to tell me more.
It is what it is. They havent reached out. Theyve been to Chicago. They were very supportive of the Chicago Teachers Union strike but didnt feel it was necessary to talk to the new black LGBTQ mayor.
Warren, from Massachusetts, and Sanders, from Vermont, sent Lightfoot a message with their lack of reaching out about an endorsement when they were in Chicago. The attitude coming from them was Why bother? Lightfoot said.

That said, cutting people from her list of who to endorse for president based on that seems strange also. I can have a snit, and it makes no difference to anyone but my husband, who'll either tease me out of it or find somewhere else to be. Not so for her, and forget excuses about the supposed disqualifying flaws it reveals in the candidates.

He went to olive Harvey college to speak when he came to Chicago , in the 2nd Congressional District.
Very uncommon location for national politicians usually visiting for photos, votes , or $$. That area would be passed over in most of those cases
Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., who is close to Lightfoot, represents it.
A Bloomberg anti-gun super PAC spent heavily in Kellys first primary, helping her win
