The Republican Party, represented by its majority caucus, formalized its fealty to the renegade administration* of Donald Trump.
WASHINGTONThe biggest news about this corrupt administration* was not made in the Senate chamber on Tuesday. It was made out on the campaign trail by Senator Professor Warren. From CNBC:
If we are to move forward to restore public confidence in government and deter future wrongdoing, we cannot simply sweep this corruption under the rug in a new administration, Warren wrote in the plan. The progressive Democrat cited a report by a nonpartisan good government group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which found unprecedented corruption in the Trump administration, as well as other reports of self-dealing among administration officials and the presidents family members.
Thats why I will direct the Justice Department to establish a task force to investigate violations by Trump administration officials of federal bribery laws, insider trading laws, and other anti-corruption and public integrity laws, and give that task force independent authority to pursue any substantiated criminal and civil violations, she said.
Make no mistake. If we ever are going to repair the damage done by this administration*, it is going to have to include a thorough fumigation of every corner of the national executive. The first big mistake made by President Barack Obama was his determination to look forward, and not back. Too many of the criminals working for the last worst president in history skated. Too many Wall Street vandals got away clean. That cannot be allowed to happen again. The corruption of this administration* is unprecedented. It demands this kind of unprecedented response.

If she becomes our nominee, I will have no problem supporting her completely.

(113,079 posts)would have been possible if the IranContra special counsel was given full support and BCCI investigation was taken more seriously by Clinton WH.
Instead of exposing the high crimes of BushInc in those early years, Clinton let Republicans paint him as the criminal for the manufactured scandal of Whitewater.
Bush2 and Trump is what you get when you tell the country its time to move past the crimes of the last administration.

(49,395 posts)moxie to completely clean house. As much as I would like to see justice done with dozens of heads rolling, the average citizen wants our nation to move in a direction that would "bind up the wounds", as Abe Lincoln would say.
That said, if E.W. as president, decides to take names and kick ass, I'll back her 100%. Damn the negative consequences.

(21,552 posts)When Nixon resigned and Ford pardoned him, he faced no other consequences. There was more than Watergate thst needed investigation. But it was all swept under the rug in order to "move on." people said the nation had been through enough.

(4,533 posts)The youngest 40% of those eligible to vote favor Dems almost two to one. That is a margin vastly larger than prior margin. Pew tracking shows they are not getting conservative as they age, not at all. Pretty soon, as the young age and vote at higher rates, the Republican Party will cease to be a national political party.
