Jan 2020

Rogan often gets accused of sympathizing with some of his weirdo guests because he listens to extreme views without objection, but I don't think I've heard anything all that bad from him directly...

Rogan strikes me as, like, when there's a roomful of dumb ignorant jocks, in the context of that group he's the smart thoughtful one. Which doesn't make him very smart or thoughtful, but at least he tries.

Seems like some of his most controversial statements are about trans women in sports, where he has a completely valid point, as living for years with male levels of testosterone leaves a body substantially different from one that was born female, in ways which are fairly similar to the effects of prolonged use of steroids.

<snip>

"American actor John Cusack on Tuesday retweeted an anti-Semitic meme captioned with a neo-Nazi quote, then apologized and deleted his retweet following backlash from his social media followers.

The meme retweeted by Cusack depicted a giant hand emblazoned with a blue Star of David crushing a group of people beneath it, accompanied by the quote: “To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.”
The meme incorrectly attributed the quote to French thinker Voltaire, but it’s actually an excerpt from a 1993 essay by American neo-Nazi Kevin Strom.

Cusack added his own caption to his since-deleted tweet, telling followers to “follow the money.”

The post immediately elicited backlash from online users, who accused Cusack of promoting anti-Semitic tropes about Jews and power."

Fri Jan 24, 2020, 05:23 PM

what in him is attracting so many contemptible people to him? He's not going to endorse the worst, but he's not going to change that in himself either. He knows he's superior to all those who don't attract this kind of scum.

Another of the many, many things Sanders has never seemed to understand is that the leader-follower relationship is interactive. Followers change to conform to him, yes, but leaders also inevitably also change to reflect their followers. Sanders trolls the bigoted, misogynistic swamp, avid for support of the many white men who angrily reject the Democratic Party's commitment to equality, without understanding that politicians who do so become part of it and over time can't do without it.

for him already. We know the Khans would only consider candidates of good character and judgement.

"I'm supporting Joe Biden for President because of the America he stands for and the one he will fight for — the country that my son, Humayun Khan, believed in and fought for so bravely.

Vice President Biden has always put the country above himself. From the days after he was first elected Senator to his time serving alongside President Obama, Vice President Biden has never wavered in his commitment to our country. President Donald Trump, on the other hand, has consistently chosen self over country, seeking the aid of totalitarian governments to sway elections and undermine our rule of law to serve his self-interest.

Hate has no place in this country. Beating Donald Trump and the hatred he promotes is the top priority in this election. But after Trump is gone, we need someone to help unite us and help us heal. I trust Joe Biden to be that person because I know his heart like I know my own."
