Sanders vows to cut prescription prices in half if elected president

The Hill

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) vowed Sunday to cut prescription drug prices in half if elected president in 2020.

"It is absurd that Americans are forced to pay, by far, the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs while the top 5 drug companies made over $50 billion in profits last year," he said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

"We have a national health emergency when one out of five Americans cannot afford to purchase the medicine their doctors prescribe. Whether the drug companies like it or not, that is a situation which must end, and end soon."

Which, if it is the way he envisions doing it, he would likely be ok if Trump gets upheld in Court.

Because current law says the federal government is prohibited from negotiating drug prices, the drug companies can do whatever the hell they want.

in the 2016 primary and she got pilloried. Maybe promising a unicorn gets around that problem, because at least ponies exist.

He would have done something that in his long time in Congress, he did not do or seem to try to do. The question is exactly how does he do what he promised. He must be hoping that Trump's national emergency ploy gets upheld by the Courts, because use of such a tactic is the only way that drug prices can be lowered.

A chicken in every pot! A car in every garage! Free college! Everything's free, free, FREE!!

Promises without realistic and real-world plans to implement them, or get them passed into law, AND FUNDED... well, it's hard to take him seriously.

I think we should take a close look at his legislative accomplishments before we take these types of promises seriously.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
