Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumOh c'mon people, snap out of it! Can we stop pizza-gating Iowa until we have at least one fact
straight about it?
You all remember what facts are, don't you? And you can still tell the difference between a fact and a conspiracy theory, can't you?

(16,616 posts)we allow our opponents and the MSM to tell us what happened.
My version is: We had three obviously viable candidates, now we move forward.
We are lucky because we have an embarrassment of riches.
Congratulations to Mayor Pete, Bernie and Elizabeth.
And it's not over for Joe or Amy.
Onward and upward!
EDIT: I'm not suggesting we concoct conspiracy theories, just capitalize on the fact three candidates did very well.

(9,402 posts)It's tempting to jump ahead of everyone with a half-cooked or totally batshit narrative, but it will do a lot of damage in the long run. A narrative is only as good as the facts behind it.

(2,657 posts)1. The voting app was hard to install, so some people did not install it.
2. Even if you could get the app installed, it did not work for some people.
3. When the app did not work, there were not enough phone lines to call the numbers in.
4. Caucus rules were changed this year, and some of the people running things blew it by not following the new rules.
5. The campaigns of the candidates did various things such as: 1) claim victory and move on 2) not claim victory and move on 3) send a letter complaining about the process and asking for a delay in reporting the numbers.
We have plenty of facts. What we do not have are the final numbers. We theoretically should get those later today

(16,616 posts)So we will get actual numbers.
Because I'm seeing articles saying, "We may never know..."
Numbers would clear up a lot.

(16,120 posts)on paper. Everything was called in, but a lot of it was very late because of the call centers.
Better to release accurate numbers after a delay than have to change numbers as the Republicans did in the last two Republican caucuses.

(2,657 posts)instead of calling this a voting delay due to things like software problems, they called it a "meltdown". Here is their current headline:
"Iowa Meltdown Hands Opening To Trump"
They had problems with a new software app. A "meltdown"? Go fly a kite, CNN!

(9,127 posts)Our Iowa caucuses are unlikely to project who will win our partys Presidential nomination.
If the lame-stream corporate news media is disappointed that they dont yet have a particular target to play micro-scandal and what-about games with, thats their tough kibbles.

(70 posts)There were clearly a lot of issues with the administration of this caucus, but I can only hope that some of the conspiracy theories that I'm seeing on Twitter (literally Mayor Cheat is trending) are the result of trolls and not serious people.
