Why is Bloomberg trying to derail the Biden Campaign?

Serious question.

Biden has been and still is the longtime frontrunner in polling.

Biden has been a lifelong Democrat.

Biden is an experience politician with strong minority support.

Biden is a financial moderate.

So.... why is Bloomberg trying to destroy Joe's campaign chances?

a crowded Democratic primary, and he has since switched back.

And I've read that his support of Toomey had to do with Toomey advocating expanded background checks for buying guns. That's always been an important issue for Bloomberg.

Both Bernie and Mike need to find a Party that they really believe in instead of trying to hijack the Democratic Party to their own ends.

They're trying to do the same thing that Trump did to the GOP.

I have nothing against Bloomberg wanting to keep Trump from being re-elected, or his wanting to keep Sanders from getting the nomination when that would almost guarantee Trump's re-election.

I have no doubt Bloomberg will do all he can to help Biden if Biden can get the nomination.

However, I don't see how that answers your initial question, which presumed that Bloomberg is trying to derail Biden. Currently Bloomberg is doing his best to get the Democratic nomination and apparently will derail other candidates so only Bloomberg is left.

I also think that he thinks that he can attract some moderate Republican voters who don't like Trump, and will be impressed by Bloomberg's success as a businessman. Also, he may well appeal to suburban women who support gun control. Biden's main appeal is his claim to be electable, but that is looking like a less persuasive claim after Iowa.
