Related: About this forumIrony: Multimillionaire Bernie Sanders Attacks Pete Buttigieg For Influence of Wealth
Talk about irony. Bernie Sanders keeps family members on his campaign payroll, including his son who Jeff Weaver openly wondered what he actually does. Anti-Super PAC advocate Bernie Sanders is backed by a SuperPAC run by Bernie surrogates who among other things backed Bernie's daughter in law in her own campaign run. Bernie Sanders who has attacked private foundations ran, a you guessed it, private foundation formed by wife, Jane Sanders, which employed his son-in-law and paid the son-in-law six figure salary to run the "Sanders Institute." Of course, neither the Sanders Institute and Our Revolution disclose their donor records.
So, multi-millionaire Bernie Sanders decides it is a good idea to attack Pete Buttigieg for being influenced by wealth.

We reached out to the candidates. No one, not even the Democrats who spend the most time bashing Trump for his financial dealings, answered every question. So we ranked the entire field on transparency, assigning scores ranging from 0 (lips sealed) to 5 (full disclosure). In the end, we uncovered the money, regardless of whether the candidates wanted it out in the open.

(17,390 posts)For example, Bernie's son Levi has been long paid as a Senior Policy Strategist even though Jeff Weaver, Bernies presidential campaign manager has said: [He] really doesnt know much, to be honest with you. Likewise, Bernie set up the Sanders Institute, which was funded by charitable donations, and paid a six figure salary to his son in law:

The institute was founded to promote liberal policies less than two years ago by Sanders family with the backing of pro-Sanders celebrities and advocates though Sanders himself had no formal role. While it operates at a fraction of the scale of the Clinton Foundation, it has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars during its brief existence and has declined to disclose its donors.
Jane Sanders, who also serves as a chief adviser to her husbands presidential campaign, is not compensated for her role at the institute. Her son, David Driscoll, is paid $100,000 a year as co-founder and executive director. Driscoll previously was an executive for Nike and the Vermont snowboarding firm Burton, but had no previous nonprofit experience, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The lack of transparency and the family ties have drawn criticism from good-government advocates.
