Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumMy wife went to the Bloomberg office opening in
St. Paul, MN this afternoon. It was well attended. Guess what the campaign slogan is now for supporters:
I LIKE MIKE!
Sound familiar?

While you're calling Bloomberg out because he was once a Republican you should get a load of what political party YOUR choice was a member of well into middle age.

(7,524 posts)Warren voted Democratic for prez since the 70s and changed her registration about a quarter century ago. Bloomberg supported Toomey in 2016 (he voted for acquittal) and for Scott Brown against Warren. And yet Warren's decades ago registration means more than Bloomber's support of numerous repubs in THIS decade? Talk about a load.

(7,524 posts)RECENTLY. Including one who voted to acquit dump. Has Warren donated to repubs in the last 20 years? Or supported ONE? Bloomberg has supported many. See the differences?

(36,320 posts)Trump and his minions cannot match Bloomberg dollar to dollar In a matchup this GE. Bloomberg can outstaff and out advertize Trump easiy and still be able to donate millions to down ticket Dem candidates

(16,117 posts)can BUY the election for himself. Literally, you said nothing about what he would do. It is all about him and his money.
I guess that's who we are as a nation now, for sale to the man with the most money.

(7,524 posts)I don't care about what money he has - I care about how his use of it reflects his politics. Funny that so many on here criticize Bernie who votes to caucus with the Dems or Warren who hasn't voted for a repub in decades but Bloomberg gets a pass for electing repubs who JUST LAST WEEK voted to acquit drumpf. The hypocrisy is stunning.
We dont need an oligarch whose support coems from his wealth and whose politics are sipportive of repubs. We can win without becoming them.

(6,110 posts)Bloomberg has to win primaries before he attracts republicans in general.
I am sure there will be a few zingers during debates by his democratic opponents.

(34,195 posts)The candidate you support, Warren, was a Republican.
Friends and colleagues of Warren's from her high school days to the early part of her academic career in the 1980s have characterized her as a "die-hard conservative" with a belief in laissez-faire economics and "surprisingly anti-consumer views".
Warren was registered as a Republican from 1991 to 1996. She voted Republican for many years. "I was a Republican because I thought that those were the people who best supported markets", she has said.

(7,524 posts)So Bloomberg supported repubs as little as three-and-ahlf years ago (inclding one who just LAST WEEK voted to acquit drumpf) but you and many others n here made a hughe deal out of Warren's past - evne though she hasn't been a repub for decades and voted for Dems in presidential elections for the last 40 years.
Bllomberg has supported numerous repubs in the last 10 YEARS, yet gets a pass. Unbelievable hypocrisy.

(34,195 posts)(I see nothing on Google, or his websites, connecting Bloomberg to "I like Mike" as a slogan)
"Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire campaigning to become the Democrats 2020 Presidential candidate and former Mayor of New York, has released a new slogan: get it done.
The slogan was launched on Saturday 10th January at the same time as Bloomberg opened 150 new field offices around the USA."

(146,321 posts)One of the things the campaign is doing is letting supporters add that slogan to their Facebook and Twitter avatars, using an app. It superimposes a transparent graphic over the image you use for your avatar and plugs it back into the website. You supply your Facebook or Twitter handle, and log into the website ON THE WEBSITE, for security reasons, and the app does the rest.
"I Like Mike" shows up after that on your regular icon, along with a tiny campaign logo.
Bloomberg has hired actual highly-paid professional Internet people for all of his online campaign stuff. There's none of that start-up app design company nonsense that bollixed up the Iowa caucus reporting. He has also hired some of the best advertising people available to create his ads and commercials.
The campaign is 100% professional, well-planned, scheduled, and executed.
It's going to be very effective, I think, and we'll see how effective on March 4.

(146,321 posts)She's OK with Biden, too, and said, "Well, Bloomberg probably won't win the nomination," but he might help Biden get it at the convention. My wife is a smart person. She makes up her own mind about things.
Note: I have never, even once, ever referred to her as "the missus," "the little woman," or "my better half." She has a name. I use it, or refer to her as "my wife," when online. She decides where her name appears on the Internet, not me.
