Democratic Primaries

MSNBC host Chris Matthews drew rebukes on social media Friday night after suggesting that as a Democratic Socialist, Sen. Bernie Sanders could lead a dictatorship in which establishment political figures would be executed, should he win the presidency.
Following the Democratic primary debate, Matthews joined other MSNBC commentators including Joy Reid and Chris Hayes in a panel discussion in which Matthews expressed concerns about Sanderss democratic socialist ideals, which he claimed the Vermont senator has not clarified.
I believe if Castro and the reds had won the Cold War there would have been executions in Central Park and I mght have been one of the ones getting executed, Matthews said, referring to former Cuban President Fidel Castro. I dont know who Bernie Sanders supports over these years, I dont know what he means by socialism.
The discussion followed a question posed during the Democratic debate in which ABC News moderator George Stephanopoulos asked the seven candidates whether they were afraid of having a Democratic Socialist as the 2020 presidential nominee.

(12,712 posts)Matthews can deflect all he wants to as a toady to wealth.
What is ludicrous is that, while inane statements like that are bandied about, (and anybody who takes mere, biased opinions like that to be credible needs a gullibility check) we have a bona fide, Fascist dictator acting as pResident right now and who has been given a green light to proceed. I don't think it is too biased, partisan or sensational to say that the potential to have public executions and camps, etc., is more likely with Trump than anyone else in the history of this country.
I would put it this way, if we did not have any checks and balances at all and the Trump had started with an Executive Office with full power, what scenarios come to you mind based on history and after three years in office. I certainly can imagine what the Dictator in Chief would have done because you can extrapolate that from his act, actions and behaviors to date. You give him enough rope and he will hang us, so to speak. There is a deep down spite/hatred/anger in him and, rather than getting some formal therapy and insights, we are the abuser's punching bag and the prime target for his darker psychological problems.
In my book, Trump is spelled: D. I. C. T. A. T. O. R. He has demonstrated a form of envy for them and he is a modern, American version of one, in our midst, and who is now encroaching, insidiously and persistently on the kill. The the prey? First, democracy, then we the people, starting with the weakest and working his way up. Stalin left gushing rivers of blood in his wake and we don't want that to happen here.

(320 posts)OK, the guy is now a verified JERK. Tweety......That is obscenely stupid. Sanders is talking about a democratic socialism. That isn't Hitler. Sanders does not envision a government that controls the means of production. Sanders envisions a real democracy where the weakest have a shot at rising. I am not for Bernie but I'm WAY less for Tweetie, after this.
