Tue Feb 11, 2020, 02:33 PM
Feb 2020

Bloomberg: “Ninety-five percent of murders — murderers and murder victims fit one M.O. You can just take a description, Xerox it, and pass it out to all the cops. They are male, minorities, 16-25. That’s true in New York, that’s true in virtually every city…And that’s where the real crime is.”

“These kids think they’re going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed,” Bloomberg said during the speech. “So they just don’t have any longterm focus or anything. It’s a joke to have a gun. It’s a joke to pull a trigger”

“We put all the cops in minority neighborhoods,” said Bloomberg. “Why do we do it? Because that’s where all the crime is. And the way you get the guns out of the kids’ hands is to throw them up against the wall and frisk them.”

“Yes we’re arresting minorities for marijuana” but “that’s where the crime is”

I dont know all the details but clearly the stop and frisk issue was ugly and should not have been enforced that way. However, as the Mayor of huge cosmopolitan city he represented all the people and Im sure there was huge pressures on him to combat crime. That's not an excuse but an explanation for what he did and said... and that does not make him a racist.

The United Nations Genocide Convention, which was established in 1948, defines genocide as "acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such" including the killing of its members, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group, deliberately imposing living conditions that seek to "bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part", preventing births, or forcibly transferring children out of the group to another group.[4][5][6]
