Persecution motivates people.
It also usually diverges from reality and thus creates divides between peoples.

(17,387 posts)That talking point about being persecuted by the media. Where have I heard that before? It sometimes seems like Bernie and Trump's campaign is reading from the same playbook.
https://www.salon.com/2019/09/03/trump-campaigns-brilliant-new-tactic-whining-about-media-bias-as-the-right-has-for-years/
As it happens, it's not likely that his unorthodox 2016 campaign ended up netting him a profit, despite his efforts to flow as much money as possible to his hotels, clubs and private airplane. Since he was running as a self-financed candidate, he ended up spending more of his own money than he took in.
Last week multiple news organizations reported that Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale appears to have an unusual business agreement that's providing him massive compensation compared to any other presidential campaigns. One assumes that Trump is aware of all this money flowing to Pascale. If he isn't, there's likely to be hell to pay. He doesn't like his people making money off the Trump brand if he's not getting his taste.
* * *
Kvetching and complaining are hallmarks of the Trump era, with the president excelling in his leadership role of whiner-in-chief. Hardly a day goes by that he doesn't throw a tantrum on social media about how unfair everyone is to him. So this strategy fits the Trump campaign nicely.

(17,387 posts)I think Bernie also has a lot of people who want to help him. Afterall, he is the only top polling candidate with more positive Russian state sponsored mentioned than negative ones.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/russia-will-try-meddle-2020-u-s-election-intelligence-report-n1134446
WASHINGTON Russia interfered in Western elections in 2019 and is likely to do so again in 2020, according to the latest annual threat assessment by the Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service.
NBC News obtained an exclusive preview of the annual report from the Baltic nation's intelligence agency, which warns that Russia will continue to pursue cyber operations that threaten other nations.
"Russia's cyber operations have been successful and, to date, have not been sanctioned enough by the West to force Russia to abandon them," the report says.
Russia will try to interfere in the U.S. presidential election in November and in parliamentary elections in the nation of Georgia in October, it warns, saying, "The main goal is to ensure a more beneficial election result for Russia by favoring Russian-friendly candidates or those who have the most divisive influence in the West."

(17,387 posts)Who is more pro-Bernie? Bernie's campaign pushing conspiracy theories attacking the "Democratic Establishment" or the Trump campaign jumping on Bernie's persecution bandwagon?
What I wonder is whether Bernie's campaign is counting on this support by pushing out attacks on other Democrats and the Democratic party generally knowing that such attacks will be amplified by Republican and foreign political operations?
You look at this thread and you see Bernie's supporters pushing the same talking points that are then amplified by Republicans.

(1,773 posts)"We disproportionately stop whites too much and minorities too little".
In a just world, if the aforementioned groups listed in the OP were indeed out to get anyone, one would like to think it would be someone who once made statements like the above, or who endorsed Dumbya Bush (Anyone else remember when most Democrats thought he was the most evil man on the planet?) for President TWICE.

(24,122 posts)I don't see how ANYONE thinks multi-billionaire Mike Bloomberg, with his unambiguos positions on race, George Bush, Wall Street, etc etc is the replacement for Joe now that he has plummeted from frontrunner status and is no longer seen as the most electable candidate.
Though, I must say, as a Bernie supporter, I can't think of a better opponent for him to debate than Bloomberg, to contrast his progressive policies and show why Bernie is the superior, most electable Democratic candidate. Bring it... can't wait!!

(45,806 posts)I like him & a lot of his ideas. I was a strong supporter in 2015. This time, I'm really afraid of what DT could do to him. Yes I know he will try to take down any candidate we have, but with Bernie he can scream SOCIALIST constantly, and there are still a lot of older people remember that title being closely associated with communism. Stalin & Mussolini. Then of course he's NOT a Democrat!
I believe we NEED Independents & moderate Repugs to all vote for our Nominee and I don't think Bernie can gat them.

(22,913 posts)Bernie Sanders is routinely called a Socialist by pundits and reporters nowadays. He is no longer referred to as "the Independent Senator from Vermont", or as someone who has "called himself a Democratic Socialist in the past." No, the word "Socialist" rolls right off their tongues just like Donald Trump would have it. At least since he entered Congress decades ago I don't believe Sanders has ever identified himself flat out as a "Socialist". Nor are his policies any more "Socialist" than were FDR's before him.The media doesn't call Warren and Bloomberg "Republicans" today, do they?
Meanwhile Sanders is quite proud of the Union support he has gotten throughout the country. To sum up his feelings about organized labor as "Bernie thinks Union Bosses are out to get him" is disingenuous.

(3,163 posts)...I've said it before...
...there are techniques the MSM Big Money talking heads use to dis us and Bernie when we're not looking...
...they never speak among themselves of how Bernie has emerged as the Democratic Party's front runner or leader...
...the never speak among themselves how Bernie is a strong Democratic candidate capable of beating trump in the Fall...
...they never speak of Bernie's victories, rallies, interviews or support as 'success'...
...but they certainly do speak of Bernie as a Democratic Party 'problem' that somehow needs to be addressed, and to that end, which of the other candidates would most likely correct and address the 'problem'...
...tell me if it ain't so...
