"Bloomberg is paying 23yo field organizers $6000/month & rallies have free food & swag"

Matt Grossmann ✔@MattGrossmann

Bloomberg is paying 23yo field organizers $6000/month & rallies have free food & swag; he’s spending just as extravagantly on field as TV

Conventional wisdom is $ doesn’t buy elections, especially at the prez level, but no one has tested this price point

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/13/us/politics/bloomberg-campaign-cash.html
Michael R. Bloomberg at a campaign event in Miami on Jan. 26. After a late start to the presidential race, he has used his vast financial resources to produce polished events and offer compelling benefits to new hires.
The Bloomberg Campaign Is a Waterfall of Cash
The billionaire has deployed his corporation in service of his presidential bid, producing slick events and recruiting staff members with unusually high pay and other perks.

$6000 x 23 = $138,000
$138,000 / $61,700,000,000 X 100 = 0.0022% of Bloombergs wealth.

It's temporary work with long hours, evenings and weekends included. It probably doesn't work out to an astronomically high hourly rate.

I always wondered how he roused up uneducated people who were not politically active in obscure small cities and towns to turn out for rallies. A lot of cash and field organization?

Too many campaign staff are paid way too little or not at all, although that seems to be better this year than it was when I was in/right out of college.

11. You can't buy a Bloomberg yard sign.

Feb 2020

But stop by any Bloomberg event or campaign office and they'll give you one, along with other campaign paraphernalia. Offer a donation to the campaign, and they just say, "The candidate is not accepting campaign donations at this time."

Stop in another candidate's field office and ask for a yard sign. They'll hand you a donation form. Guaranteed.

Bloomberg is doing it differently. In the end, he will not be beholden to anyone on financial grounds. Anyone.

Get a tech degree at a good school and you can make twice that a month at 23.

So what's the objection? That people are getting paid well for their skills or that it's a 23 year old?
