There is nothing about Bloomberg that appeals to young voters ?

Bloomberg is not my candidate. I don't like Mike. He is a 'tough on crime' authoritarian technocrat with a couple of liberal causes. But those causes, gun violence and climate change are life and death issues - and appeal as much to younger voter as they do to me.

He hates Trump, it's personal, and he will do everything he can to defeat Trump. Even if he loses.

If this fact is lost in the translation from Old English to Young English, we all lose, young and old alike.

Which is growing more common on DU and just as tiresome.

Edit: adding the question mark after the fact kind of proves my point.

Sarcasm does not get a good wrap on DU. I got called out on a comment saying that the UAW wants ordinary folks to have no health care coverage at all. ( ) I would have thought most if not all knew gun control was a passion for Bloomberg.

It's pretty clear that a lot of DUers have no clue about the guy beyond the fact that he's a billionaire and "stop and frisk". As with all of our candidates, there's more to the story than the top layer. The comparisons to Trump I find particularly laughable.

Sarcasm is difficult to convey via print, though the context here made it clear. I'm usually pretty good at reading the actual post, and my apologies for not doing so on this occasion and missing the obvious. I rarely ever kneejerk, but I think the zillion misleading or fact-free posts about many of our candidates over the past couple weeks have gotten me a little jumpy.

19. The thing about life and death issues - there are no second chances.

There's a reason ER sees code blue patients first. And this election is just about a 'no second chance' for the Republic.

The mistake I make is I assume people know where I am coming from - like "A defense of Mike Bloomberg's role in this election campaign" https://www.democraticunderground.com/1287510025 . It's dumb - of course most ppl have not read my posts, but I keep forgetting.

But the call out for making an anti-union/UAW comment was particularly galling ... anyways.

a billionaire in the race who has championed the climate change cause. I can't figure out what makes Bloomie attractive to anyone in the Democratic Party.

His nanny-statism will crush him in the blue states that Trump squeaked out a win in four years ago. And you can be absolutely certain that the NRA and its allies will hang the "gun grabber" label around Bloomberg's neck, further damaging him in rural areas.
