Is there a way to donate that I don't end up

With junk mail or spam email? I am overwhelmed right now after putting my mom in a home and changed her to my address. Having a hard time with tons of charity and other junk mail.

I want to start donating but worried my mail will go even more nuts both at home and online.

Also, campaign contributions require a declaration of citizenship, a person can't simply send money in the mail without identifying information.

If I could go back in time, I'd do it this way: Only provide a Google Voice phone number and use a Yahoo Disposable email address. It's a free feature. Check settings under security I think. Alternatively, you can use Gmail's email address customizing features to filter out responses--like adding extra dots or the +keyword feature. Seems like a ton of organizations have my real phone number and text way too much.

You may want to set up a new personal email account and let only certain organizations know that account. Set up an account for everything else, including donations. On the second account, go into it on occasion and do a "delete all". I had to do this. I have even gone farther and set up personal, business and "other" email accounts. The personal and business email is all that I bother to read.

But I got tired of too many mixed emails and have 5 gmail accounts, personal, bills, travel, info, and shopping. Info and shopping get the most but at least I can see stuff from just my personal friends and bills.

I have been spending a bunch of time lately unsubscribing to cut even that down.

So the thought of adding purposely more when I want less...

No worries I will figure it out part of the oversold lives we lead.

My sister, a brother and me went through that with my mom. It was difficult, but when she passed, I didn't have guilt of not being behind her to add on to the other intense feelings that come with losing a parent.

I think you will get the mail and email spam issue addressed, just remain focused on the important issues with your mom's care.

Take care.

Even if the companies don't have you personally give them your mail address, they can get it from the sale of lists. When I get both personal and business mail, I scan it, take out the stuff that I need to read and throw the rest in a trash can.

We do our smaller donations through Network for Good. http://www.networkforgood.org/donate/

They are best known for charity gift cards where you can donate and allow a recipient to direct where those proceeds go.

But it works just as well for anonymous giving. NfG filters the money and sends it where you want. There is a small service fee so there is a small deduction in what the charity gets but they don't get your contact info.

NfG is itself a charity so your initial donation to them is tax deductible even before you direct them where to send it.

11. have a junk email account.

I maintain 3 different email accounts.

1 is my personal email that is only for family, close friends, and services related to household bills, HOA, medical/dental etc..

The 2nd is for my work email. I only engage in professional work related correspondence on that one.

the 3rd is my junk email. I use that one any time I fill out online stuff, or give my email out to anyone that doesn't qualify in the first 2.. that I really don't want to see their ads. This is also the one I use for facebook, Linkedn, twitter, DU and other social media outlets that I'm not convinced won't sell off my email info and start getting advertisements through.
