Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumNew poll has Steyer leading Nevada Cauces.
Tom Steyer leads a tight race in the Nevada Democratic Caucus with a slim 2-point lead, according to a poll commissioned and conducted by Point Blank Political; however, the top five candidates are all within the polls 5.6 percent margin of error. Steyer, Klobuchar, Biden, Sanders and Buttigieg led the pack, while Warren and Gabbard were decidedly behind the leaders. Point Blank Political surveyed 256 likely Democratic caucus-goers from February 13th through February 15th. The survey results were weighted by race, gender, and age using a Random Iterative Model and the models weighting efficiency was 84 percent, resulting in an effective sample size of 215.

(6,414 posts)But other polls do show Steyer doing pretty well in Nevada. Not winning, but middle of the pack. Hes invested a lot of money in NV.
But regardless, I wouldnt put too much stock in this poll.

(2,706 posts)But Steyer needs more polling to qualify for the debate.
This could be why these weird poll results suddenly showed up. Because there was a month of no NV polling. And now this.
https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/politics-and-government/nevada/tom-steyer-says-he-should-qualify-for-democratic-debate-1958148/
Democratic presidential hopeful Tom Steyer has not qualified for the debate scheduled for Wednesday in Las Vegas, and he decried a lack of qualifying polls in Nevada and South Carolina, where he said his internal polls have him in second or third place.
Theres not been a single poll in Nevada or South Carolina, Steyer said in an interview with the Review-Journal. And I believe I would qualify easily in both. Someone has to run a poll that counts. Its very frustrating to think that we think were at a multiple of where we need to be, and no ones run a poll. We think were in second or third (in both states).

(11,471 posts)I saw him in the talk with latinos on FB with Pete, Bernie and I think Amy.
He was good, he talked about jobs in a way a successful businessman can and he is great on the environment and definitely said he was going to have a path to citizenship.
He might have money but he is very liberal.

(2,706 posts)There is no way Bernie dropped to 13%.
The RJ poll is certainly biased, and Ralston gave info as to why that pollster should be somewhat distrusted. But Steyer did not suddenly leapfrog BOTH Biden and Sanders.
This poll was, possibly, an effort to get Steyer into the NV debate. Since there is a lack of NV polling, Steyer can argue for the DNC to count this one.
