Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumMy wife was supporting Klobuchar with Bloomberg as a backup. Now she's not supporting either...
...and she thought Pete was "mean" so I don't know where that leaves her.

(47,600 posts)Pete may have gotten some bad political advice. There's a fine line between being assertive and being mean. Not a good look, especially from someone so young and inexperienced.

(261 posts)I thought he did great tonight. I did think Pete was a little mean, and Warren was too overbearing for me tonight. Can't stand Sanders or Bloomberg. I still like Amy, but I would prefer her as vice-president.

(33,430 posts)Warren will fight for health care for all, but will work with our House and (soon-to-be) our Senate on how we get from here to there. Her record in Congress shows she knows how to work with others.

(19,567 posts)My opinions: Bloomberg lost hands down. Klobacher lost ground, sadly. I really like her a lot, but her inability to connect and emphasize showed too deeply tonight. She can't do 'off the cuff' as needed, and cannot connect on that deeper empathic level.
Buttigieg May have actually lost ground in his attacks of Klobuchar. I get the strategy, but some,of his soft supporters find it distasteful so far.
Warren did good on vetting Bloomberg. I was impressed. She seems to be vying for the more moderate candidates followings per her strategy.

(22,913 posts)I think all three of them showed poorly last night. Bloomberg seemed as arrogant and unlikable as Mr. Burns in the Simpsons, Klobuchar seemed more brittle than usual, reverting to her standard well worn lines every time she got rattled, which contrasts with her former "freshness".. Pete did seem a little smug, a tad too polished and yes, bordered on seeming mean at times. He did nothing to expand his appeal beyond those already drawn to him, and given his current standing with People of Color, that spells trouble for him. Biden by far looked the best last night among those who pundits like to label as "the moderates"

(17,276 posts)Amy tried to come out more aggressively I think, but didn't have a lot of substance.
I don't like Pete, Bloomberg or Sanders. So for me it's down to Biden, Elizabeth and Amy. We don't vote until April 7 so we'll see where we are then.
My daughter who is Pete's same age can't stand him! She likes Warren best.
The best candidates, to me, are the ones who talk about themselves the least and the issues the most.

(7,947 posts)I like most of those people on the stage. But after these debates, I always feel alienated from them... don't want to hear them. And I am a dedicated Democrat! I can just imagine how the carping and bragging goes over with the less political.
These debates have them all attacking each other while Trump speaks all by himself to a worshipful audience. This isn't working. We want to hear their positions l, not their negatives about other Democrats.
