Bernie can win the general

First let me say I was originally for Biden because I thought he was the one that could beat Trump. The more I think of it, the more I actually think Bernie can because 1. He is considered the unelectable candidate 2. He has a devoted following....look back at the previous elections...when a party nominates the more "electable" candidate and safe choose they have lost (Clinton, Romney, McCain)....but when they have nominated the "unelectable" candidate and the one that was going to turn away "moderates" they have won (Trump and Obama)....what do they have in common with Bernie? They were considered unelectable for the General election, but had a devoted following....we forget that in the '08 primary people were afraid that Obama couldn't win. He was considered to far left an extreme, and was America really ready for a black president. Of course now the Media has revised his election as someone who ran centrist campaign and appealed to moderates....he did govern as a centrist, but in ‘08 he ran as a progressive liberal....moderates were drawn to him because of his popularity. I went to a Bernie event yesterday in San Antonio and saw the excitement.

trump and the repubs have not unleashed all of Sanders' baggage. They haven't even started. They will define and destroy him by the Dem Convention. Are you aware of this or just in denial?

3. It's gonna be a shitstorm. Still, you gotta remember it won't matter to voters who want IF45 out.

It's only the media horse race muddlement of common sense that tries to mess with what we all understand:

ANY of our candidates, even on their worst day, with their worst past, is better than ANY Republican on their best day.

The more focused and clear we stay about that, the less fear, uncertainty and doubt will creep into the electorate.

Most voters see that.

Every one of them, Biden included is going to be relentlessly mauled and torn apart.
Not to mention active role in hacking and damaging the elections.

because they didn’t have enough real dirt.

Even after all that, all they could come up with is some vague hint at nepotism. Not like they’re vulnerable on that count.

4. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy will be the next speaker come 2021

Kevin McCarthy also wants sanders to be the nominee

THE TUMULTUOUS POLITICAL CLIMATE has given fresh hope to REPUBLICANS, who were privately skeptical of TRUMP’S prediction that House Minority Leader KEVIN MCCARTHY will be the next speaker come 2021. Internal polling commissioned by the NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE showed that voters in districts targeted by both parties are skeptical of SANDERS -- his approval rating is 42%, and disapproval stands at 53% -- which they believe will help boost their candidates for the House. In these districts, voters prefer TRUMP, 48% to 43%. If SANDERS is atop the ticket, Republicans believe, they can credibly label every Democrat a socialist without fear of overreach.

We have to GOTV and rub their noses in it, no matter who the nominee is.

From state elections to the WH, we have to get each voter to understand the stakes and stand up to fix this shit.

Those are all valid points, but if it comes down to a gut check about security, scary immigrants or just capitalism vs communism, Bernie is not the return to normalcy our country needs after Trump. I do not have faith that enough people can be educated in time about socialism for us to win.

We'll know a lot more after Super Tuesday, but it does appear that the electorate has shifted to the left rather dramatically of late. "Socialism" has been a scare word for a long time. That is changing. Enough for us to elect Bernie? Maybe. Maybe not. We shall see.

Bernie can win. For me, it's a question of coattails. We might do better, in that regard, with a different nominee, but I like them all, and I am willing to wait and see what my fellow Democrats have to say. It's early days yet.
