My reply:
because they didn't vote for that awful Hillary.
(hopefully I didn't need a sarcasm tag on that)

(17,600 posts)But even with his flaws and his flawed hiring, BS is better than Trump.

Even Bloomberg. Tulsi is not a consideration that I can see.

(6,797 posts)canvassing for Bloomberg. I told him I won't vote for Mike in the primary because I don't like how he jumps from party to party when it suits his needs. But I will vote for him if he gets the nomination.

Gawd I hope it doesn't come down to BS or Bloomie.
But either one of them is far better than the orange menace.

(17,600 posts)Just to clarify - Are you saying he's not?
I do agree that Sanders as nominee would not be best for down-ballot races. And sure, if you are canvassing, look for clues that Sanders is a huge turn-off to them; if so, don't push voting for him but push our other candidates. That's just a judgment call on the spot - some people just can't be persuaded.
For yourself, if Sanders unfortunately becomes the nominee (I don't believe he will), you absolutely should be voting for him and promoting him positively where possible.

Although there is no choice but to vote for the nominee. Don't employ a scorched earth policy getting there.

There's a lot of pissing in cornflakes going on. It's nothing new, and it isn't going to override my rationality at decision time.

(17,600 posts)For what it's worth, I don't think BS will get the nomination.
I'll be very unhappy if he does, because of the b.s.
But my brain will still be in charge.

I will vote for Sanders if he is the nominee in the general election, because the Supreme Court matters, but I will NEVER FORGET OR FORGIVE WHAT PEOPLE LIKE BRIANHNA JOY GRAY DID

(68,667 posts)Sanders wins the presidency which is unlikely to say the least. However, he has no coattails and we won't get the senate-no senate then no judges. I just hope we keep the house honestly. I see it as likely that Sanders loses the General and we don't regain the Senate. The house will be our only chance to fight Trump.
I would also add that Sanders's hired folks who did not vote for the Democratic nominee to work in prominent positions in his campaign. They and people like them are the reason the 9th circuit has flipped so I find...a bit hypocritical of such voters to demand the Democrats vote for their nominee when they didn't vote for the nominee in 16. I believe most Democrats will but not necessarily in the states we need. And Sanders numbers may be inflated with operation chaos voters who will vote for Trump in the General. If only a few Democrats and Indies in rustbelt states stay home...we lose.

(17,600 posts)our nominee is still better than that orange sack.
And that goes for Bloomberg as well as BS as well as Biden and all the others, for whoever is feeling strongly negative toward that candidate right now. I really didn't intend to make this about a specific candidate.

(51 posts)While it's fun to imagine taking revenge on the Bernie Bros and Gals who refused to vote for Hillary in 2016, by doing the same to their candidate, that would be like punishing the country, and not just them.

(3,131 posts)I need to spend time I dont have fleshing this out, but my hypothesis is that controlling government is more important than policy in predicting progressive legislation.
Weve held the presidency, senate and house for 10 years out of 52. Admittedly there was a time decades ago where we could get compromises through a divided congress.
I dont really get the expressions lesser of two evils or holding my nose while voting. In every election since before I was old enough to vote the democratic candidate aligned with what I wanted more than the republican, so why would it be annoying somehow to vote for them.
Doesnt mean I wont second guess the nominee to myself, but Ill keep that to myself after the nominee is selected until at least after the general election.
