And "enough of them to have a delegate lead that'll be hard for other candidates to surmount, going forward", is my answer (possibly just from Texas and California, which between them account for 643 pledged delegates).

(21,786 posts)I'm not sure how you could even think that, really. "one ballot for all candidates" makes zero sense in a party-specific primary election. It's like every other state with closed or semi-closed primaries; if you're a registered Democrat, you get a Democratic ballot for the primary.
