Just heard Eugene Robinson say

That Bernie Sanders was the number two choice for most Biden supporters.

I found that pretty surprising. More surprising is that a quarter of Sanders supporters have Biden as a second choice

However here it is.

That’s why the Bernie versus the moderate votes theory is bunk.

Some Biden votes just might like old white dudes and vice versa. Not all “left” Warren voters are going to switch to left wing Bernie. Not all moderate Pete voters are going to switch to another moderate.

are the two leading political figures in America with a long track record of identifying with and fighting for ordinary Americans. They trust that each would prioritize trying to address their needs, because they believe that both genuinely think they matter, so they won't later get forgotten or abandoned. That type of gut feeling transcends policies.

I am not refuting what Robinson said, I am just observing that I don't know any Biden supporters who have Bernie as a 2nd choice. I don't know who they polled and I'm not stating my observation as a personal poll result.

That said, I am curious if there are any Biden supporters here who have Bernie as a 2nd choice. Most of the Biden supporters I know have Bernie as a last or 2nd to last choice.

This is not a poll, it is an observation! I am not attempting to state what I view as any kind of a poll.

I could see both Bernie and Biden being appealing to certain voters, especially blue collar whites, because they both come from working class backgrounds and seem like they've never lost sight of where they came from. Both are strong union supporters and have done well with blue collar voters in the past. Remember, Obama had Biden stumping heavily in places like Southwest PA and Southeast OH with a lot of white non-college voters because the campaign calculated that Biden was probably the best person to reach those voters. Also, some of these voters may be less comfortable with a woman or a gay man as president. I can see a lot of reasons for overlap beyond the name recognition thing.
