A brokered convention will not affect the base

We, the base, go out and work hard for our nominees. Every single election. No matter what. We, the base, believe in our Party, our nominees and understand very well the dangers Repubs present to our nation and to the world. We are self motivated because we have a good knowledge of the issues that face us and how poor the Repub track record is.

Those who lean Dem or are registered Dems and entertain the idea of not voting are not the base. One may be part of a demographic that tends to vote Dem but that doesn't automatically make them part of the base. That distinction has to be earned. Each and every election.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. And yet elections are won or lost on the margins

A slim percentage in a handful of swing states. So yeah, the base will get on board, but who you might win or lose with a contentious convention can be key.

primary today, I would vote for:

3. Then it would be wise for candidates to rally their supporters who are not part of the base to vote.

8. Some of those on the margins are ok with another 4 years of Trump

With the Senate being in Repub hands and that body approving Trump's picks for judicial positions.

I mean, what can one do with those on the margins that sit out elections, like the last one and are threatening to sit out this one, who apparently think Trump putting his choices on the Supreme Court is not much of a deal? If that doesn't upset them, why would anyone think that what happens at a Democratic Party National Convention would bother them?

because of the Electoral College. If we base our decision on national data, it is not clear that we will get the outcome optimal for the EC, which is what really matters.

But would the non-base really care that much if our convention was brokered or not? They don't have the investment into our Party as we, the base, do.

I might be pissed at the result but the only mission we have is to defeat Trump. It does not matter who our nominee is or how ugly the convention will be.
