Greg Palast: "Not the way people most people believe. It isn't done by some guy pressing a lever and changing the vote from blue to red. Rigging an election is usually done by blocking people from casting ballots or not counting the ballots they cast."
Greg Palast is an investigative journalist whose work has been featured by the BBC, the Guardian, the Nation and Rolling Stone. He contributed several articles to Salon on the 2018 race in Georgia. He is also the author of the bestselling books "Billionaires & Ballot Bandits" and "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy."

(5,128 posts)Palast said, Kemp and the new Sec. of State of Georgia want to keep the lid on their methods for removing literally hundreds of thousands of low-income, young and minority voters on the basis of false information. They cannot hide any more. This is a huge win and precedent for reporters trying to pry information from the hands of guilty officials.

This is, and has always been, nothing more than a pipe dream of his and we should stop giving it attention.

(628 posts)How does the GOP cheating 🚗 get around that?
Remember when the Mississippi Secretary of State told Kris Kobach to "go jump in a lake" when Kobach wanted voter data? I do. That was priceless
Kobach was in charge of the unindicted co-conspirator's voter fraud commission whose sole reason for existence was proving there were no legal citizens voting Democratic in California. This was all designed to soothe the wounded ego of the electoral college selected president.
It blew up in their faces because the states run elections.
Is there something in quarantine law I am missing? It is quite possible sadly.

(2,072 posts)Would that make the tone clearer? Let's say four people are at a party talking...
Person one: You know everybody thinks that fixing an election has to be explicit editing of votes through something like electronic manipulation, but there are a lot more insidious ways Trump could cheat the election using voter suppression methods.
Person two: Or he could just cancel it to limit coronavirus transmission.
Person one: Yeah right? Don't give him any ideas. The way things have been going lately -- pretty scary.
Person three: Point of fact. Trump can't cancel elections.
Person two: Trump seems to be doing a lot of things lately that he technically can't do.
Person four: I agree, elections can't be cancelled. Elections are conducted at the state level. Here look at this Wikipedia entry.
Person one: I think I'm gonna go get some cake.
Person two: I'll join you.
