Jon Favreau, formerly of the Obama White House, on Bernie's legislative accomplishments

Does someone want to let David Brooks know that Bernie’s major piece of legislation was a veterans health care bill he co-sponsored with John McCain, and that he passed more bipartisan amendments in a Republican Congress than any other member?

So much for the false narrative the Bernie has not been an effective legislator.

Regarding the photo, I have been known to have one too many myself so I won't judge.

Anyone can "tack on" amendments to something that's likely to pass anyway... what I want to know is what has he written with regard to major legislative initiatives that have passed? What has he shepherded through? What has he brought people together on? What has he compromised on and found unity in common interests? Where's the TRUE LEADERSHIP that this requires? (And post office names don't count. I mean it's nice and all, but it not really indicative of someone's leadership abilities, and being able to work well with others, and being able to negotiate and compromise.)

All I'm saying is that these are valid criticisms and concerns. I think that the American voters deserve honest answers when it comes to things like this. That's all. We can all agree on this, no?

In a five-year period from 2014 to 2018, according to GovTrack.us, Sen. Klobuchar co-sponsored 1,967 bills—more than any other senator except Connecticut’s Richard Blumenthal. Another study, conducted in 2016, ranked her No. 1 in the Senate in lending her name to bills that were enacted into law. Perhaps her former staffers wouldn’t have become so disgruntled if they’d gotten more sleep.

Thank you! There's a BIG difference between... "LET ME LEAD THE WAY" and "Oh... while you're at it, here's an afterthought" for someone ELSE's bill.

Honestly, I don't know why people think I should be impressed by that. The candidate who gets MY support is one who has shown TRUE LEADERSHIP skills... who is willing to compromise... who is willing to find common ground... who is willing to do the hard work to get support.

I can't say that I see those qualities in Bernie. But, I do see them in Amy. I'm warming to her. I appreciate your comments.

because nobody in Congress would want to be viewed as voting against veterans benefits. However, the reason such legislation was necessary because of at least 40 veterans that died while waiting for care in Phoenix and the likelihood that similar situations were happening around the country.

The bill was not proactive, it was a reactive piece of legislation because the public demanded it. The bill could have contained almost anything and it was almost certain to pass through Congress and be signed by the president. It did not require much negotiation between the Democrats and the GOP because both parties were facing the ire of a nation. Claiming that this was some legislative masterpiece demonstrating Bernie's legislative negotiating skills is an exaggeration.

primary today, I would vote for:
