Washington State Democrats angling to host Democratic candidate debate

The state Democratic Party, bullish at having a presidential primary that counts, is angling to have the party's White House hopefuls debate in the Evergreen State
.
"Presidential candidates come to Washington State for our generous donors, now they will stay for our smart voters," Democratic State Chair Tina Podlodowski said in a statement Monday.

The party's state central committee voted 121-40 on Sunday to "count" results of the primary in allocating delegates to the Democratic National Convention next year in Milwaukee. The primary has also been moved up to March.

Washington has served mainly as an ATM in presidential politics, its technology economy producing multimillionaire and billionaire donors to both Democratic and Republican presidential candidates.
