(2,212 posts)Got it; thanks. So far as I understand it, it's the delegate votes that count. That said, you might want to revisit the popular vote totals after California votes tomorrow.

(2,212 posts)Particularly since Sanders has been leading in delegates every step of the way: after Iowa, after New Hampshire, after Nevada, and after South Carolina.

(6,139 posts)whose nomination (if won) will cause a massive landslide victory for trump along with losing house, expanding gop senate majority and fundamental reshaping of state legislatures across the country. It isnt McGovern who lost to Nixon - peanuts compared to trump. Unlike trump, Nixon was not an existential threat to the entire world.

(2,212 posts)You seriously think the world will cease to exist if Sanders were to be the Democratic nominee? You might want to take a break from politics for a bit if you do, just sayin'.
Now, assuming you're simply saying it would be a "really, really bad thing," or something similar, I'm not convinced. Virtually every poll I've seen has Sanders beating Trump in a general election. I see no reason for hand-wringing, panic, or alarm whatsoever.

(3,249 posts)It's said to be the stuff of nightmares. What will those polls look like on Election Day, after months and months of ads using Bernie's own words and actions against him? He hasn't had to face that kind of opponent yet, and the GOP is brutally good at gutter politics. Trump himself will have a field day.

(2,212 posts)Remember 2016? The election that brought us the Trump presidency? Everyone was convinced Donald Trump would have no chance against an establishment politician with years in Washington. Trump carved the establishment politician to shreds. Whoops.
And what seems to be the plan this time? Well, this time, the plan is to... to run an establishment politician, with years of experience in Washington, against Trump.
What people aren't understanding is that it is no longer so much about Left vs. Right as it is about Establishment vs. Anti-Establishment. Trump beat Clinton by posing as an anti-establishment politician. What's needed this time is a genuine anti-establishment politician, and Sanders or Warren fit that description. My two cents.
