4. Who can effectively run for President against someone:
a. Who has pushed racist, right wing talking points scapegoating immigrants and calling efforts at immigration reform "open borders" or "amnesty."
b. Who has long history of engaging in nepotism and sponsoring foundations and businesses that have financially benefited his family.
c. Who has been hostile to our allies in NATO.
d. Who has been hostile to media and complained about coverage as being biased against him.
e. Who elevates himself by demonizing the Democratic party.
f. Who has sided with Russia against U.S. on election security.
g. Who has been sided with authoritarian dictators.

If I were to vote in a presidential primary today (which I did), I would vote for Elizabeth Warren.
I did consider voting for Joe Biden, particularly after Klobuchar and Buttigieg dropped out, since I really liked President Obama. I think Joe would be a really solid President. However, I really like Warren's mix of a cohesive progressive vision, plus her solid understanding of policy details.
As for Bernie, he reminds me too much of Trump, and even as he preaches unity, he continues to elevate himself by attacking and demonizing the Democratic party. If Bernie were to win the nomination, I would vote for him over Trump, but he shares many of the qualities that I dislike about Trump.

(17,390 posts)Many of the qualities that I condemn in Trump have been normalized, and folks will seek them out in a candidate regardless of party even though they might strike many Democrats as antithetical to the notion of what it means to be an American.
