Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI don't have the heart to officially switch from Warren, but Biden's the one.
I wish this were an election where the people were looking for detailed policies to make their lives better, and I continue to believe that it's appalling that in 2020 we still haven't had a woman as President, but it's clear that both of those aspirations are going to be on hold for at least four more years.
What we need now is compassion and empathy, which are the antidotes to Trumpism. We need someone who believes in the future of this country, even when we may not fully deserve it. And we sure as hell need someone who has the experience from day one to fix the mess this current President has created, both at home and abroad. That's Joe Biden to a T. He's our happy warrior.
I'm fortunate that I don't vote until much later in the primary, so I may not have to cast a vote at the expense of Warren, who I think the world of, but the bottom line is that I'm 100% behind Biden. This is truly his moment.

(18,402 posts)(Hopefully, we can take back the Senate.) Congress is where those policies originate and get voted on anyway. The president can set priorities, but it's the Senate and House that enact laws.
So all is not lost for you.

(10,435 posts)They're essential, but I think Warren also has something else - the ability to make clear what she wants and how she'll do it. The backbone to fight for what she wants to accomplish. The will to not just look forward but also back - to make criminals face consequences while simultaneously making the country not only repaired, but better.

(16,402 posts)I want to vote for Warren, but Bernie's ahead in California and that has to change.
I've been holding off and holding off, waiting to see if it's safe to stick with Warren or if it would hurt Biden, but I'm out of time today. Unless something radically changes before it gets too late, I'm voting for Joe. That's not a problem, of course, and I'm sure he'll give Warren's tremendous talent and skills a prominent place in his administration, but I really, really wanted her.

(68,667 posts)president. I consider it deserved...I contributed to the dark side by saying it on this site. However, let me say that if any woman could win the election this year, it would be Elizabeth Warren who became my second choice as I admired her guts.
I was terribly sad when Howard Dean didn't make it...he was the first candidate I really cared about. But let's hope we get rid of Trump in November...and EW is not going anywhere. She will still be with us battling for us .

(58,785 posts)Remember, in 2015 when considering running after his son's death Biden reportedly wanted Warren and only Warren for his running mate, to be to him what he was to Obama -- a very busy and important assistant president, and trusted friend. Biden and Warren actually met to discuss it at that time, and she left the door open.
Well, forward to today. We don't know if they both still have that door open. But he liked her, believed they could be really good partners, and valued her competent iconoclasm a LOT, and no doubt he still does.
And it seems to me all the reasons they'd make a great, complementary team to restore and advance our nation's wellbeing are as real as ever. For sure that team is needed even more badly now.

(487 posts)My primary comes in April, so I'm unsure if Warren will be a viable candidate by that time.
While Sanders is sort of similar philosophically, he expresses goals more than plans. Warren is plan-oriented. Goals alone don't win votes in the Congress.
It's also notable that Biden is comfortable to large numbers of voters. And, oh, by the way, the impeached president* would really like to run against Sanders instead of Biden.
Biden will get my vote.

(2,657 posts)We know how valuable a smart, highly educated, hard-working woman can be. Do not think that because we support Biden that we do not value Warren. It was not our team that called Warren a liar or told her not to run. It was not our team that sent snake emojis to Warren. If Warren were to win, we would vote for her proudly in the general.
If you join Team Biden, you will be joining a Team that respects all that Warren has done and all that she stands for. Joe Biden's strategy and tactics may be quite different from Warren's, but Joe Biden loves hard-working Senators who get things done and who fight for the right things. That is Warren all over.
Like so many other good candidates, Warren was the victim of a field that was overcrowded beyond belief. Twenty-nine candidates is just ridiculous. If it were just Warren versus Biden for example, there is a really good chance that Warren would have taken the nomination. Every Joe Biden fan is grateful that it was not a one on one with Warren. I might have switched sides myself.
Thank you for supporting Joe Biden. There is one more thing that we have to do. If Biden wins the nomination, he must select a woman for VP--someone who can become President herself. Joe Biden's greatest accomplishment may end up being that his VP choice is the gateway to the White House for the first woman President. There is no better way to increase one's chances of becoming President than being Vice President first.
Thanks again for your support.
Joe Biden is very lucky to have you on his team. Welcome to Team Joe Biden!
